Well being that knoxville and the surrounding areas have a total population of like close to one million people I would think it would be easy to get more people interested in racing. The area around dalton is not nearly as populated, yet they seem to have alot of racers. Is it the track, the location of the track, or the amount of time it has been around? Maybe the bigger the track the more people it would pull into rc. I wouldnt think we would have a problem getting a club track started.

I have to give credit to the track for such a good turn out. Its red clay that has high bite, it drains great, and it has great jumps. It also has great visibility from the driver stand and its easy to set up. Nobody is fighting over electrical outlets or space to set up camp. Everybody is also super cool and there to have fun.

Ed and Aaron Weaver are probably the biggest fans of their track. That is why it is such a success.

As small as MMS was, the first couple of years it attracted a crapload of racers. We had probably 40-50 people there during years 1 and 2.. It fell off around year three when we stopped running points. Who wants to race 3 people for 1/2 the combined class entry fee and a little trophy? For me, running points makes it worth the effort.

I sent the owner a link to this thread, so hopefully he'll be along soon. It's been talked about for about 4 hours now, and we already got enough interest to get a class or two going. He NEEDS to be here fanning the flames! lol

I bought my SC10 specifically to race at Karns. Two days later, I see on here that the track wasn't going to be open this year. Yeah, that made me smile. NOT!

I think (hope) someone with the resources will recognize
the potential the knoxville area has for a offroad racing
facility.
