I assume you mean the double ceramic "full" bearings? I've tried them and although they seemed to work great, they made more noise and required lubrication after every 3 races, therefore I prefer the non-full double ceramic bearings. They are awesome and cost less. Just my 2 cents.

Just got the new 17.5 V21 R1 motor.

I race at this track. .. racing a Yokomo BD8

what timing and gearing should I start with.

My Tekin Spec R runs nicely with an FDR of 4.2 gearing around 96/38

Default V21 13.5 1s rollout and timing advice

Hi all,
I recently purchased a v21 13.5. It's the BRCA approved version.
I will run it in my 12th scale car on a relatively large track (racing arena Limburg).
can anyone suggest a good starting point for timing (or amp draw setting on a motor checker) and rollout ?
thanks in advance

Mine was a rocket at 4.10 ratio and 50 degrees timing. I run 17.5 blinky touring car though. Not sure if you are running blinky mode or not. Also, your track looks slightly bigger than my home track and more flowing.

I'd probably start around (3.90 - 4.00) and (48-50) degrees timing if I was going to run on your track. (Assuming 17.5 blinky)

Here's a link to our track. We change the layout about every 3 or months and the website hasn't been updated with new pics, but it gives you an idea of the size.

sweet... almost the same. What temp are you getting with your R1 V21 17.5 after 5 minute qualifier?

Team, After some gearing advice for 17.5 4wd. I have on order V21 17.5 to run in a B64D, any idea on what a good starting gear ratio would be? Track is fairly large as we run 8th scale as well on same track.

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have a timing position for the V21 17.5 with the stock rotor for 1/12? I have a good idea where it needs to be but I just wanted to compare and see what others are running them at.

there are so many variables.... a good starting point is 42* and an 78 rollout

depending on your track though.....

Yes sir.... typically 3.0 - 3.5 draw
check your temp often to start.... should always keep the temp sub 160 to ensure longevity of the rotor. My 1/12 motor is coming off at 135-140
