Please help me decide, I am having a tough time choosing between an R1 Wurks V16 and a Motiv MC2 17.5 motor.

I have seen all the reviews and still cannot decide. They say that the V16 is both punchy and outputs higher rpm. The MC2 can be geared higher because of all the torque.

Small technical astroturf track, lots of grip and turns. Going in a xRay XB2 carpet edition, slipper locker.

Where would you time 25.5 raced in VTA on a large asphalt track.

Ok. Thanks. I just read the rules. There wording is ambient temperature or above. Gonna have to ban guys pitting in air conditioned trailers. Seems two fans are illegal too. Tech tips https://www.rcmaker.com.au/pages/r1-tech-tips

You can still use your peltier units to cool your motors faster after a run to room temperature and above. You just can't go down under room temperature though, besides some of the racers will endup pitting in the cold side of the racing facility anyway, giving them an instant advantage, specially if they have their desk fans on at all times....

Having run a MC2 I’d recommend the R1 with the 1700 gauss rotor. They are about even in the tight turns but the R1 walks a MC2 on the straights.

Hey hey my 13.5 arrived. It fell out of the tube and was just bouncing around In padded envelope. Appears fine. Maybe they should be taped shut? Motor looks way cool. Has more thump than any other motor I have. Timing is set at 50. Think I read 43 is the spot for 4wd buggy? Gonna gear 8 fdr. I will be running fan. There’s a trophy 🏆 race I will be attending this weekend. Was thinking about running in 13.5 and mod class with this mill. Any tips would be great. I am geeked. Thanks

I got the motor installed. The solder post seemed kinda loose so I put a tiny bit of shoe goo on them to keep them from moving. cannot wait to run on track.

Noticed motor hitting chassis. I dremeled coupe mill out of chassis for clearance. I measured a few motors. The R1wurks was the fattest.

My home track is a large asphalt track and I'm going to try and test there before too long and advise on what I find. I have been running a small black carpet track using 59 degrees with a lot of success. Motor barely got warm after an 8 minute main last night. I was able to TQ and win. Gearing is at 3.76

This setting was based on one post sometime back from a well known racer that stated; "don't be afraid to try up to 60 degrees". He was dead on. So, when I get to my local track, I plan to leave the timing alone and just adjust gearing. Hope this helps.

Agreed - but vivo quevas had specifically asked about 25.5

Scott you ran it at 55-59 degrees of timing? Geared 3.7 ? What size track do you run on. R1 25.5 pull less rpm at the same timing then my fantom V2 or V3 but around the same and draw. That @48 degrees of timing ] guessing I'm going to have to add more timing and gear it lower then my fantom?
Thanks for any additional information on a direction to start with
Oh that's actual timing not what the can reads if I'm going by the timing marks it's about 51 degrees.

The carpet track, 386 Raceway in Daytona, as I said is on the smallish side at 76 x 40. I set the timing using the GForce at 59 degrees. Motor came off only slightly warm after the 8min main. Gear seemed to be about perfect on the straight and the infield.

Home track of Valkaria R/C is a large asphalt track and I've yet to use the V16 there. Hopefully before too long I can test/race the V16 there.
