Sooooo anyone have any updates when they will be available again? Think its been out of stock 7 weeks. These made out of plutonium or rare space metals? Need a 13.5 for Reedy.

I ran it. The motor seemed super fast. Is 4.95 FDR too little gear for a 13.5?

Are there any visual markings that differentiate an older R1 motor and the new R1 ultra premium?

On the premium there is a blue sticker with serial numbers on the top. Different R1 logos too.

Congrats to those guys! Would like to know FDR and motor timing for 13.5 Maybe the guys who ran R1's at the race could post details.

Congrats to the guys running at Reedy. I love these motors. I was running the old std v7 13.5 and I've got the UP version now. I've got a V9 on order too, can't wait for that one. These UP motors are Wicked fast. I've been running the 13.5 on an indoor asphalt track. 100ft back straight. The motor loves to rev at around 35 on the can and fdr of between 5 and 4.6. They have ridiculous rip through the corners with the high gearing but can't be beaten down the straight. My buddies 21.5's are the same. They are in the 4.0 fdr.

I would suggest dropping 2 teeth from what you would run with another motor and every run take another tooth off till you find the sweet spot. I've backed my nosram speedy to 3 on the initial drive setting from up to 10 with the new stock software as I was getting massive wheel spin with higher settings.

Anybody know where to get a 10.5 V9 stator? I've sent three emails with no reply.

Just picked up one of these R1 Wurks 2nd hand (think it's the older one) and a bit puzzled how to gear it for 21.5 on a very large outdoor track. I was running a Dualsky Z5 21.5 geared FDR of 3.2 and it was coming off around 55 with timing around half way on the endbell (42 on my motor analyser) when I wind it out to full timing (54 degrees) it was coming off at 80 and felt very laggy pulling out of corners.

Anyway this R1 has the timing set to 35 on the endbell, motor analyser is saying it's at 63 degrees timing, and kv is north of 6000kv? So what gearing should I aim for without making it a toaster?

I am basing this off of an new R1 21.5 on an outdoor track 160ft straight in USGT class: we are running our motors at 30 to 35deg end bell timing and geared at 3.75 to 3.9 depending on your driving style and track layout. If its wide open and fast shoot for around 3.9/4.0 if its tight then 3.75 seems nice. We all run fans on the motors and you can hold onto the motors when you come off the track. We gear for performance not temp. Most guys keep cranking up the timing and gearing based on motor temp but we don't cook our motors, we set for performance regardless of how cold the motor is at the end of the run.
