overhead is usually stocks and 19t's, it is 1 pos and 1 neg spring, and the regular pack is all neg springs, like you would use on a shock...

hard to explain....

Overhead - used on pos. side of EPIC Stocks and 19t's

Standard - used on Reedy, Orion styles.

Overhead is a reverse coil of the standard Spring.

Default Help w/19-turn motors

Hey guys,

Our club is starting a 19-turn class this season in both sedan and 1/12 classes. We follow ROAR rules re: motors, etc so we need to know what motors are acceptable for ROAR. Not surprisingly, their site isn't OVERLY helpful...

From their site I gather the Trinity Chameleon (and Chameleon 2?) and Komodo Dragon motors are legal. I'm guessing motors based on those are also legal. What about the Reedy Quad-mag, etc? Just going by the ROAR site it would seem like 90% of the motors advertised as 19-turn are not actually legal.

Many thanks,

Scottrik

You are correct. The only official ROAR legal motors are the Komoto and C2's. They are the only ones to actually submit their motors to ROAR. There are several other motors that fit the specifications for a legal motor, but the manufacturers havent submitted their motors for approval.

So far only the Trinity C2 and Komodo are ROAR legal. Everything else is not. The manufacturers have known what they need to do to make a legal motor for 2 years and based on what they have available to them they cant do it. ROAR will be looking at the possibility of opening up the 19T rules a little for 2007 so more manufacturers can more easily make legal motors.

That said, if you decide to use other 19T motors ROAR will not send the ROAR police to round you up and take you away . If you want a list of very comparable 19T motors to run at your race look at the approved IIC approved 19T list at www.intchamps.com. They are all pretty much equally fast.

If you want to be very formal you can ask your region director to ask ROAR to issue you an allowance to run other motors. You can also email David Lee, the ROAR Competition Director directly to get this allowance. He is a good guy and a racer just like you.

Thanks,

Adrian Martinez

Ran a 8X1 center cut arm this weekend in a V2 can.

Holy $#!T, the airforce base sent two F-16's to check out what was flying around. It was a rocket!
