Hey Eric, what was your FRD this weekend with the KD19? I ran mine at a 6.63 and it wouldn't go. Thanks.

Hey Tony I ran it from 6.25 to 6.75 and it was best around a 6.4. It got hot at all the gear ratio's but fell off at 6.25, didnt fall off at 6.4 and never ran good at 6.75.

I assume you ran F brushes. What springs? I'm going to try it again this weekend at Speedline.

Hey Tony yes I ran F brushes and a purple/red spring combo. Springs need to be a little stiffer because of the higher rpm.

Default KD-19, Monster's, C027's and 4200's.

I've got C027's on the site now and the KD-19 turns, Monsters and 4200's will be up on the site Friday. Should have some more 3800's in about 2 weeks.

Unhappy Too hot to handle!!!!!!

Eric,

I've ran your CO27 at the Tamiya track and it was a missle! I went club racing this past week and geared it wrong for that track. The motor got real hot!
Internal temp was around 200F and external was 180F. Can this motor be saved and if so what do I need to check to make sure it's still good.
Or am I spinning my wheels so to speak! Is the motor toast?
Thanks in advance!
Max

P.S. Hope to see you at the R.R.O.C.

Hey Max,

I would just take it apart and rebuild it and see if it will still pull good amps. If the amp draw is real low then the magnets are shot. I can fix that with the zaper though.

The motor still pulls good amps after I changed the brushes and cut the comm.
It just seems like it doesn't have the same power that I had when I first ran it!
I put "F" brushes, still seems down on power. Should I change the springs? Can the springs loose tension if they get too hot? Can the amrmature itself have been somehow damaged from the heat?
Inquiring minds want to know!

Springs can loose tension if they get very hot...But it usually takes a few times before they do... The arm will only go bad if the insulation is melted off the wire and it shorts out. When this happens the motor smokes, stops running all together and the wires turn crusty black.

Hey Eric,
Any dates for when your IB 4200's will reach us in the UK? I'm in need of a new pack or 3! Just gonna order a KD19 from Microtech too as they have just got your shipment.
EA motors are doing really well at the local club at the mo as Colin has probably told you and those CO27's are really fast!
Keep up the good work!

Default In Stock NOW!!

KD-19 (Komodo Dragons), Epic C Stock (C027 stocks), Epic M Stock (Monster stocks) are all in stock. 4200's will be up on the site later this week and a few 3800's are still on the site.

Newest batch of F brushes are in and they are good!! Ran a set of them in a KD-19 last weekend 6 runs and still had serrations left
