Default S120 Conversion

Hi Guys

I have a few S120 T-bar cars which I am looking to convert to link cars. I have emailed "Onpoint" as well, but was just looking through this thread and saw the pictures on pg 4, posted by Bob Stormer. Basically I am looking for the cheapest way to convert to a link car. The pics posted by Bob looks like a pretty simple conversion, without the extra 3 posts to allow the battery to run down the side. I dont mind the battery running accross the car as my S120 link car runs the battery that way and works really well. Was just wondering, can you use the standard serpent motor pod, or do you have to use the onpoint one? Does anyone have a part number for the conversion that Bob did?

Any help/advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike!

The conversion you saw of Bob's was from last carpet season. We do not make that one anymore. The only one now if the 3 post one you have been seeing here. You can run the battery the same way as you are running your link cars or the "new inline" way. The Tbar pod will not work on the link car but you can use either On-point pod plates or serpent link pod plates.

To convert the Tbar car to the link car you need, 4-rear stand offs, antenna mount, side links, center pivot and balls, damper tubes, rear pod plates and X brace and a bunch of misc hardware.

No doubt! 4th place guy didn't even have a shirt. I won't even mention what number 10 did or didn't have on.

What servo and mounts do you use on the Serpent conversion? I'm trying to put a JR 3650 in mine, but the only holes that seem to center it even close are the rearmost ones. But none of the various mounting posts I have put it far enough forward to clear the post for the upper deck. I've built a lot of 1/12TH cars and certainly I can make this work, I'm just curious what your thinking was when you placed the holes.

I think the Associated 12R5 mounts were the mount that was used most.

I have a KO 951 servo with the 12R5 mounts but I am still fidling with it. I also have a Futaba BLS 651 I think it is but I have yet to try it.
