Cars look great Tony! Love the fan/motor combo! I hope those fans are wired directly to the +/- on the Tekin speed control! It's good to see you got yourself some Boss Rip!

Below 170. With dynamic timing speed controls I've seen 125 degrees on a 110 degree track!

lol. Yeah, usually my motor is cooler than my tires after a race.

One practice though, I was having a blast running hard laps and I completely lost track of time. I didn't realize until later, my cooling fan had broken. So it turns out I was running for more than 15 minutes, possibly the entire time with no fan, in 90 degree heat. Did around 60 laps. That amount of punishment was what it took to get the motor just up over 170. Ooops.

I was a bit worried I might have cooked it, but it still works great.

edit: I felt I should state the fan that broke was NOT a BOSS cooling fan.

While I'm editing this here, I think I should add that my ESC (RS pro) was running with 51 boost (3xxx-18500), 11 turbo, ramp 2. 10 on the can. It's truly amazing how cool it runs. I check my motor every time I pick up my car and the only time I've felt it more than just slightly warm was that 15 minute practice run when my fan broke. 5 or 6 minutes with probably too much boost and it just feels a little warm.

interesting (to me) side note: after 15 minutes my 5000mah 40C battery was at 3.8v per cell. Just over a storage charge. Maybe it's time to have 10 minute mains in electric? BOSS motors would be an even hotter (by being cooler) commodity

Had a pretty good night last night. I decided to go back to the trusty 13.5 in my edm, with the 528 speed passion software it is a rocket! I was trying a different fdr and boost settings then I used to run and picked up over a tenth a lap, when your only running about 4.7 seonds a lap that's a good improvement. I turned a 4.54 fast lap which was the fastest night of the night for all the classes. I missed running the 13.5 lol!

Default 12 scale

How is this motor in 17.5 12th scale? Say compared to Duo II? @66.5 rollout?

Hello all,

I just got my 17.5 Boss in the mail, and need a little help with gearing and esc setting.

I have a tc5r with a lrp sxx stock spec, the track is 140x65.

If any one has a good starting point for esc setting and fdr would be a big help.

Thanks,

I personally am not familiar with this speed control so I can't help you with settings. If no one responds I will see what I can come up with for you. I believe there's a guy syndrome that uses this same combo check him out!

Thanks for the business!
