Hi, you were totally right. ESC was an firmware version 5 and setup-card on 4.4. After the update it works perfectly fine now. Thanks for the advice.
Would have been nice from Orca when they would mention this with one sentence in their manual.

Thanks

Depends what motor you run this ESC with. I have 3 of them all running 13.5T motors on Touring cars and FF. They are great when it works up till the point when it doesnt. All of them stopped working within 6 months. Plenty of people have the same problem. A local track had an spec race running this ESC and plenty of people all report the same thing where the ESC just stopped working. Im suspecting the no fan design of the ESC overheated the internals and prematurely killed it. I still have 1 left running my F1 with 21.5T motor and so far its still working. Probably because the F1 doesnt get much track time as other, but also the low current draw of the 21.5T motor and low demand running a F1 car.

If you want something that would last, I would either pick Orca's full on race ESC or Hobbywing's Xerun Stock spec ESC. They are at least twice the price as the blinky pro and you need a program card to go with it, but I rather pay a little more for something thats guaranteed to work instead of finding out your ESC randomly died in the middle of your race day and scramble to find a back up ESC or ending your day.

Thank you for the great response. I’ve always been a person to NOT run whatever else is. Definitely not trying to be cheap.

I never tried the blinky pro, but I did test the oe101 and never had any issues with it. The 101 is a step in between the BP and the OE1. I never found any real on track laptime difference between the OE1 and the 101, just a difference in the feeling, which is why I choose to use the OE1. I still keep the 101 as a Backup or if someone at my track wants to try them.

Orca just released a replacement of the Blinky Pro. Hopefully this isnt a repeat of the Blinky Pro. At least they included a fan for better heat dissipation

I browsed through the Forum and the googlers the other day and couldn't come across this info. I'm sure im missing something stupid..

I for the first time since buying the OE101's back in early 2019 finally decided to plug them in and play with some settings. they were all V3.0.. I upgraded the box to V6.2 and the software to V5 (by accident) I wanted to try V4.2 as suggested by another club member. Is there any way to downgrade Firmware on the ESC?

Thanks In Advance

I havent tried this myself, but I believe you can flash whatever firmware you want onto the ESC. Just download the one you want onto the SD card and pick the firmware version you want to flash

Correct, you can load any software file from the sd card into the esc, even an “older” version.
v4.2 may have been suggested as it is the legal software for blinky racing. V5 was not submitted for approval, but would be fine for boosted classes.
