What are most of you guys running for gearing for USGT 21.5 (The One)?

Track is roughly 120-140FT straight.

Timing wise try 46* on motolyser and a 3.8's FDR.
On shorter tracks FDR's are 3.9's with 2* more timing.

SG1- Josh told me to gear at 2.9 & keep the timing at 42.
I thought it would be too harsh for the motor, so I went with 3.0 & at 42 deg timing.
What do you think?? Good or Bad?

Thx-John

Our tracks are much smaller here

Dropping 1 or 2 pinions from what Josh ran is a good starting point.
42* should be safe. We run more timing and smaller gears on the smaller tracks here (46 to 48* with a 3.9).

So I can still play with Timing to even get more speed from it. On the track with another motor..lets call it (Romeo1) :-) ..we were side by side & TSR1 has more Rip & straightaway speed. At least by 3-4 car lengths.

How about a little 17.5 tc gearing incite for smaller 75' straight black carpet track.
I am guessing 4.2-4.4 at about 48*.
i will temp it of course but a ball park would be nice.
I am thinking more heat is involved on this black rug and sure dont want to over gear to start.

thx,

thx,
Using the new motor 46* might be a better choice.
The old motor 48 to 50*
I could see 4.4 range.
At 46* on an 40x88 track we were 4.1 to 4.2
