Default Losi 22

For losi start with a 76/23 to 25. Adjust pinions up or down for track size. I'm sure you can mount a fan on the waterfall brace if you haven't already.

Got a few laps on my f1 25.5 this weekend.
Tamiya f1 at 1050 weight...with 25mm fan.
I am running indoor carpet (crc gray) on a track roughly a little smaller than the snowbirds surface.
I started gearing at 43/93 and after a few laps temp was at 159F.
Started gearing down and got to 41/93 but temp was still reaching around 145. Timing is factory set (think its at 20 on bell...but will look tonight).
Is it time to pull timing out of the motor? Or should I go for another tooth on the pinion?

20 on the endbell is typically 40* total.
That's usually a pretty good starting point.
At those temps how was speed and fade?
Those temps are not unreasonable for a 6 minute run.
As for gearing, you may want to drop to a 39 or 38.
We are typically 40-96
You could also drop timing down to 15* on endbell and stay with the 39 or 38-93 and see how the speed and fade is. It is possible you may be overtimed for your track. If it comes off cool 120's and speed is down, add a pinion or two.

At 1st it was only 2 min (159).
I let it cool and went to a lower pinion and after 4 min it was 145.
Stopped because I noticed a fade (punch).
Guess I will drop it to a 40 and knock a degree or two off timing.
Just wanted to make sure I was not dropping into the geared to low zone.
More importantly (because the motor is new to me) I don't know how heat tolerant it is before it let's the magic smoke out.
I guess that's a good question.
What is your recommendation for maximum tolerable temp. For this wind?

Thanks for the quick help.

Without a fan they have been 160's with no issues.
With a fan 130 to 140 range is typical.
If the track is smaller then the Birds I'd even drop another gear or go up on spur to a 96. The bigger the spur the better it will be.

Hey all, I ordered a motor and lipo from the site and have received no feedback about shipping. Sent an email too. Would like some customer service to see whats up with my order, it was placed on the 13th.
