dontfeelcold- I think you have us confused with someone else. We do not list our packs as "platinum" It shows the info on the website. Check it out: http://www.promatchracing.com/gp3300.htm

I think I ruined a brand new pack of 3300GP NIMH batteries today because I didn't know what I was doing. I hooked my new Orion Pro67 Charger up to the car, set it to peak charging mode. The cycle went from ~2.4V @3.0A initially to around 10V @ 3.0A after around 12 minutes. During this time I heard a regular 'pop' every minute or so. I was concerned at first, but since I haven't done this in a long time, thought it might be normal depending on the chemicals used in these cells. After around 14min I saw that the cells at the ends end were discharging a brown-liquid, albeit in small quantities. When I got closer to the batteries, they gave off a frying sound. That can't be good!! I don't know whether they are ruined or not, I'm assuming they are. Before I go in another set and ruin them, could someone please tell me what I did wrong? Was I supposed to charge them at a constant Amp rate first? Trickle charge the first time?

Thanks!

Hi,

Sorry to inform but those cells are now toast... it would be best that you talk to a senior racer at your track and ask him/her how best to charge and maintain your NiMH cells.

Sorry Dude,
Sambo.

The pack came to my lhs built that way. Does ProMatch offer options?

Sure just ask you local shop when they order the batteries to have those installed.

Hi again promatchrcr,

Just checked your site to see how they should be described; but, couldn't find that info. Is their a proper description for a bar with a 90 degree bend at each end of the pack?

Thanks.

If I remember correctly you can request that in the special instructions when you place the order or you can call PMRGirl and tell her what you need.
