well since i race at night right after i get off of work i usually have to charge my batts during the day before i go to work and "repeak" at the track and have noticed no difference in voltage or runtime versus the occasional time i can charge and peak the batt at the track and run it right away....so it's your call on this, see how it works for you.

What you can do is discharge your batt's for a few minutes and then charge them so that they peak closer to race time. If you don't like that idea you can always just re-peak a minute or two before the race at .03 or lower mv threshold. Your goal is to get them from the charger to the start of the race with as little time as possible in between.

I can tell the difference when I run a pack fresh off the charger than one that has been sitting a long time then re-peaked. Might just be a mind thing.

AE - It's ok to re-peak. I would do it about 5 mins before your race.

If the cells have been sitting for 30 min or longer, repeak at the same amperage and same peak delta Voltage. If it is less than 10-15 min repeak at same amperage and .01-.03 delta V. It is best to have the cells peak no more than 5 minutes before the start of the race.

Hope this helps.

John

If I want to cycle my batteries, just to see what voltage and mah they really have should I have any delay between the peak and discharging? Does cycling have any negative effects on the cells? If so I wont do it.

Cycling does stress the cells and reduces runtime so if you don't really have to do it I would advise against it. (only if your cells are really sucking at like 2400 mAH) If you do cycle, put atleast 10 minutes or maybe 15 to let them cool down a little before discharging. If you don't and you discharge at 30 amps you be seeing your cells hit 180F and that's way to hot and you'll damage them.

Ok, I wont do that, but wouldnt running them right after they peak have the same effect?

Not really because your packs will never have the load they do when being discharged at a constant 30amps.

In Mod you might get close but then again you do have wind going over the cells to cool them a bit and so forth.

They are using the KAN cells right now and they are awesome! Better voltage than before. The GP 2/3 A cell will be available also sometime in Feb. Get some, they are niiiicccee.
