So, what are the "hot" batteries that Pro-Match offeres nowadays?

I've been out of the whole RC-scene since the early fall, and now I see that LiPo is finally taking a stand! There have been so many changes in battery technology since I put RC on hold for the winter.

For example, I see that Pro-Match doesn't offer GP3300s anymore? Are these obsolete now?

I will be starting the race season in roughly a month, and I need to order a new pack - just to keep my lineup fresh... any ideas?!

Guys

I got 3 3700s from PMR 6 months ago, very pleased with them. I was planning on getting some more for the outdoors season and see that PMR don't offer GP anymore. What's with all the US matchers going to IB exclusively ? They're more expensive and performance wise, i'm sorry but they aren't any better (before you flame, I have tried GPs and IBs back to back, brand new packs, no later than a week ago).

Just my 0.02$, I believe many racers liked he fact that PMR offered both makes of cells.

It was Jeff's decision at this time to not carry GP's till they were up to the same level as the IB's. I am not flaming but the IB at this point is the better cell. They are turning out better #'s and are holding up better also. Hopefully they will carry GP again soon if things turn around.

promatchrcr is correct. The GP cells don't show numbers anywhere close to the IB's. The IB's are actually cheaper, if you compare the #'s, the highest GP's we saw were in the 1.19 range and they cost the same as an IB 1.20. It's hard to carry a cell that tops out at a 1.19 and have to try and sell it at the same price as a 1.20. The IB cells are performing wonderful and continue to get better. When GP produces a cell that is comparable to the IB we will then at that time to carry them.

Well you're selling the IB's more than what I paid for my 3700s and performance wise, numbers don't mean much. On the track IBs 4200s and GP 3700s had similar laptimes (both brand new packs), felt like they gave similar power, etc... Only advantage for IB was runtime but it was obvious. Out of 3 packs of IBs 2 didn't take their first charge well and vented on their second (all were trayed before hand on a tekin batt doctor). The GPs gave no problem at all so that's what i bought.

My initial experience is the same as TRF415boy, I haven't seen a great difference between my GP's and IB's, in fact if anything, they feel like they have less punch. In addition with my GP's I don't have to make sure they never get discharged below.90. With my GP's I would discharge, Novak Zero tray them, till my next race - done. I hope as my experience increases with the IB's that my performance increases also. If someone has any suggestions on how to get better performance form my IB's I would appreciate it.

Right now I do the following:

Leave charge in battery, when ready to use, Discharge on Much More CTX-D 30A Impulse to .90, tray on novak smart tray to .90, Charge on Orion Advantage at 6V, Run car, and leave in remainder till next use. Then I will repeat cycle. I run stock and 19T on-road. Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi Erika and gang, how are things? Not much is going on over here...the powers that be have closed the Tamiya track down until the Reedy Race and it's been raining the weekends prior to the closure. That along with work keeping me away from club racing, I've been keeping a pretty low profile

Looking forward to some upcoming races.

p.s. Remember that two wheel toy that I got...I finally have a picture of it
