ok here is what I came up with. i went out and got a temp gun so i could play with the voltage cutoff and find the best way to charge my packs. 0.04 gives exactly 125 degrees at peak which is great. the runtime stayed the same but the ir and voltage reading got better, 3.0 and 1.17. Then I cycled a new pack I just received this week from jeff, used the same cutoff and monitored the temp. cell label is 425s with 2.3ir and 1.178av. they cycled at 405s with 3ir and 1.170av. it could be my chragers calibration or whatever but at this point i'm tired of bench racing. the only way to really find out is to cycle a different matchers pack and see how it cycles out on my charger... it be great if we could get jeff on this board, better then bothering him with emails and phone calls at work...

Well first off the worst thing you can do to your batteries is cycle them right out of the package. The best thing is to run them a for a race day or so to settle them out and sitting for a while and then cycle them. Jeff is a very busy guy and thats why he doesn't come here, he has requested that his drivers keep tabs on the board. If you feel you need to talk to him about it please give him a call, 1-928-855-2226.

i've always wondered why it's "bad" to cycle a pack out of the package. I realize the packs get better after a couple of runs which is why cycling may be useless but why would it cause harm?

I honestly can't give you the technical info you need. I just know that you want to run them in the car before doing any cycles on the pack. As I stated earlier I encourage you to call Jeff and he can give you the technical lowdown.

treydog
When i first brought the promatch cells in to the uk
One of the customers brought a pack & put them straight on the tubo matcher & promptly said the numbers don`t match

I then went back to jeff & promatchrcr & PMR girl(i remember her)
they helped me out by guiding me through the maze of looking after cells, have`nt looked back since
Peeps still ask shall i cycle them, A) no, just buy them ,charge them & race!! 3-4 races before they settle

Just don`t cycle them from new & try & compare the numbers you have on the pack to the machine , it will only confuse you more

Have faith, the promatch cells are very good, just make sure you charge ,you race, you discharge down to 0.7,0.8,0.9 on a tray

I have cells that are 4 months old (i race 2-3 time a week) & they still take 3900-4050 ish 5.5amps

i'm not bashing or even trying to imply that jeff's numbers are off. i was more concerned about my charging methods and my particular equipment. i have all the faith in the world in promatch and they're the only cells i urge other racers to buy. that's no bs, i've sent tons of business jeff's way because i truly believe in his cells. in fact, i just ordered the new 1.18+ cells he released today!!! can't wait to try them out...

I wouldn't say I am racing regular...I got to run last weekend, first time since Oct. and qual. 3rd and finished 3rd. I hope to go back in another couple of weeks. The baby is due June 6th so you haven't missed anything. We did find out we are having a girl though!! I will keep you posted. Thanks for asking.

No treydog afraid not. I had planned on going to the Snowbirds again this year but I have too much to stuff going on. (work and a baby on the way) I don't get to travel like I would like too, maybe we will meet at another race in the future. I is hard to take the large amount of time of for some the big races. I go to the ones closer to me in the South. (State races,Regionals)
