When rebuilding a motor do you recomend pushing down the seams on the comm with a pen after trueing with lathe. I have heard of people using body reamers to remove material from the bushings on stock motors to create less drag, does anyone know if this is good or bad, or what the +or- might be.

I just got a hold of some Putnam brushes last weekend and am looking forward to trying them out this weekend. Im thinking green on +, blue on-, with purple springs all the way around, does this sound rite?

Thanks in advance, Retat

dawg: We were informed that the Checkpoint 19's aren't avaible to OEM customers. If they offer them OEM, we will balance and blueprint them.

retat: I do not suggest running a ballpoint pen down the comm slots after cutting a comm. This will deform the edges of the comm plates, reducing the surface area that the brushes have to contact. This results in a reduced charge of each segement.
Take special care when cleaning out the comm slots after truing on a lathe to be sure no to deform the edges of the comm plates as well.
The bushings are recessed enough from the factory. Reducing the mat'l any more will result in the bushings wearing out quicker. I don't think you will ever notice any performance gain by taking that small of an amount of bushing mat'l away, but you would notice how quickly the bushings would wear out.
Start with a green brush on the positive, blue on the negative with red springs. remove some mat'l from the center of the brush, whether it be a cavity or a slot.
Good Luck!

Not trying to be stupid on the Putnam thread but had a question...

How ridiculous would it be to run this body...the Putnum Charger on a 1/12th car running stock on a carpet roadcoarse? I know you guys designed it for oval but it looks pretty sharp and is just something different then a "wedge" :P

Anyway it's a nice design and I thought maybe I'd just mess around with it at club races.

Also what online stores sell your motors?

We've heard of people running that body on road courses...like emulating Cup cars at Sonoma, the Glen, etc;

On-Line stores that carry our product:
-Stormer
-RC4Less
-Lefthander
-Speedworld
