On the second charge of the day the Voltage goes up the Runtime goes down.

Hey Kevin,

I seen you post earlier about not discharging after you run. What your saying is that i can take the pack out of the car after the six minute race and not do anything until the next time i race? Unless of course it's the same day.

R the novak trays worth the money? I have the real time 2 from trinity. I could buy a novak if it will help keep the edge in the cells.

Do you have any idea how much run time you loose. Cause if the voltage goes up. That could never hurt. Guess if it keeps getting better i better practice 6 times with my pack before i race......

Wolfden.....Yeah after you run the pack and its done for the day there isnt really any maintenance that needs to be done at that point....unless you are going to store them for an extended period of time like 2 months or so. If you are doing long term storage put about 500 seconds of charge into the pack and leave it like that. Then with these packs next time you get to the track put them on a tray and discharge them before the first charge of the day.

The Novak is a great tray....if you want something a little cheaper and only use 6 cells the Rayspeed one is nice but doesnt work well with 4 cell packs. The Trinity tray and most of the Integy trays will take the cells down to far if left on the tray to long as they dont have cell cut off settings.

On average you will loose about 25 to 40 seconds of runtime on the second run of the day but that can change depending on the type of racing that you are doing. If your racing stock sedan or something you will only loose about 20 to 35 seconds of run time, but with mod or 19t sedan you will loose more like 35 to 45 seconds on the second run. You can run a pack like 3 or 4 times in a day mainly if you are racing stock other wise you might start to run short on runtime. Even with doing that in stock the pack will seem to fall off sooner into the run then it did when it was on the first or second run of the day. What I do for racing normally is I have 3 "race" packs that I race with and the pack that I run in the first qualifier is the one that I run in the main. Then next week I switch them up so Im not running the same pack again in the first qualifier and main. This method for me makes my packs last a lot longer. I have like 2 or 3 practice packs that I will run a number of times in practice but they are just that practice packs and Im not to concerned with taking care of them.

Sounds good,

The novak tray has programmable cut off points? Does this mean you can discharge each cell individually. Meaning the tray shuts off each cell when it reachs the setting point? Is the standard setting on the tray what most people use?

thanks for the info.

With the Novak tray you pick a set value for the whole pack...say .9 per cell. Then each cell is discharged on its own until it falls below the .9 voltage or what ever setting is that you choose. But you cant set it up the voltage for each cell like if you wanted to set one cell at .8 and another cell at .9.....if thats what you ment. Yeah most people set the tray up for .9 or .8 per cell. Im not 100% on what the default is but its easy to set and change.

you hit it right on the head that is exactly what the novak tray does and the setting should be .9

man i threw down my new xray at aj's on saturday and it was soooo windy. the wind was blowing off the offroad track so when it kicked up you couldnt even see your car anymore. then when you were done and went back inside the car was just filled with dirt. my xray is trashed time to rebuild. but i must say it was fun running a 7x2 revolution motor.

Wallstreet....are you talking about if there is a way to get run time back in the same day or over the life span? Well with a pack that is run more then once in the same day you will loose some run time like stated before. How ever you will get that back after the pack has time to rest like 24 hours or more time and all the run time will come back....with that being said the longer you can let the pack rest the more of that lost runtime will come back. Also when a pack is older and has been run or race "cycled" many times and has lost some runtime there is no way to get that back.
