Anyone know what the maximum thickness a chassis should be for best performance and durability?

I would think that anything thicker than 3mm would be over kill... ..but then again .....I have seen as thick as 3.3mm being used with good results on hight bite asphalt

3mm is not over kill... it is the stiffest to go without weighing to much... 2.5mm flexes more but weighs less... 3mm is ultra rigid.. the 3.3 mm u speak of was probably rated as 3mm.. they are not perfectly flat.... ive seen 3mm from .117-.133

i had a pan car chassis that was 3.5mm... it rated .133-.142... it was way to heavy.. ultra stiff but to heavy...

the 3mm also allows u to mill the chassis out more for less weight. if u did the same with 2.5mm it would flex a ton... for most applications u want the stiffest chassis..

I want to get a 3mm chassis for my HPI Pro4. What would make the BMI one a better option to get than the HPI one.

THe BMI one is out right now and the HPI one still has a few weeks to go I belive..?? and more than likely the HPI chassis will cost more than a BMI one.. ( well at leaast for me that is ) 7800 Yen for a new 2.5mm chassis in Japan and I can just buy a BMI Full Pro4 set for just over 100$ .... plus the quality of the 2 BMI Pro 4 Chassis that I just got yesterday are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! ... Needless to say I will be gettting more from BMI in the Future

Yes the BMI stuff is very good (bought the TC3 conversion). I was just wandering if its possible that the BMI one could handle better than the HPI one or vice versa, less tweak etc

MCGreevy,

I am just doing a lot of testing of the summer. Get it out of the way now before the season picks up again.

I just an X-Ray FK. I have ran X-Ray in the past and had great success, but this new car is ten times better. BMI/Jason sent me a chassis kit with the cells moved about a full cell forward. Unbelieveable. I ran the car yesterday and was consistently 3 tenths faster than anyone on the track.

protc3,

X-Ray conversion is simply dialed. The car was money. Thanks again for the speedy service.............

RB, PM me with that setup if you get a chance. Thanks. Mine's working very well too, just would like to see what you're running.

RBLove,
What's happening... It's old Dickin' Sydor
I too have a version from Jason that has
the cells moved .350 farther forward, which I believe
is a half a cell. And I run all KO equipment in the
X-Ray, and is it tight in there for space. Couldn't
imagin how tight it must be with a whole cell moved
forward.

I love the way mine handles too, and at my local track-
I'm also running a one-way.
