TQ'd and won 17.5 @ the Race of Champions @ Jackson RC with Synergy 17.5 and Supercharger battery. Jackson always brings out some of the best wheels on the east coast, and this was no exception. Car had plenty of rip against D3.5's (I ran standard, non outlaw Synergy), and the consistency was sick, top 15 laps only 1 tenth off hotlap. Ran 3.70fdr w/ 8* timing, and the 12.3 red rotor.

Mike - Great job back there! I cant wait until we don't have to beat big wire motors anymore... Our SPEC motors are running with everything out there... 2014 will be fun!

Hey guys just picked up 4.5 murfdogg ...just a quick question ....this might be a dum one lol but im assuming the timiing numbers that go to 10 are +...and the part that goes to 5 is negative ....but when i read the instructions it says to use negative 5 - 10 timimg ...are we just taking a guess as to where that might be as there are no markings on the can?.......i can guestimate where neg 10 is ...just wondering why theres no markings on the can.

Looking at the enbell, turning timing plate counter-clockwise (towards the 5 marking) is the negative timing and clockwise is positive timing. You can advance past the markings, but recommended to be within timing marks. That 4.5T will be killer fast!!!!!!!!!!

Any recommendations for gearing a synergy 10.5 motor - blinky TC on carpet, flowing 100x40 layout? I haven't had the motor apart yet, but I'm assuming that it's built using a 12.3mm rotor. Thanks in advance for the assistance.

I've only used on Asphalt/Boosted geared between 7.83 FDR (low strength RPM rotor) to 8.29 FDR (stock rotor). From large Asphalt track to confined Carpet track, I generally drop 1-2 teeth on pinion. I believe Mike Gee, may have tested with it on indoor carpet and could provide a good starting point.

Actually I got 2nd I qualified 3rd. There was only 2 tenths between me and karl at the line. The Supercharger packs were awesome. Rip all through the run.

Also finished 4th in mod, behind a bunch of super talented factory guys 6.5 motor was nice and smooth eith plenty of rip boosted.

I havent ran 10.5 blinky but if I was id start at 5.0fdr and 5* on the endbell

Mike,

Thanks for the tip - I was thinking 5.0FDR was about right, but wasn't sure on the timing. 5 degrees it is.

I tried this setup this past weekend - bottom end power was OK, but several 13.5 powered cars outran me in the backstretch...

My FDR by the end of the night was 4.75 - should I add another tooth on the pinion, or add more timing?

What did your motor temps look like? Ive ran as much as 10* on my 17.5, past that and it doesnt really add much performance I think. Also what rotor do you have?

12.3 spec rotor... Motor temps were mid-150s after a 6 minute run, and I'm using a 30mm "WTF" fan for cooling.

Im not sure if that is one of the newer high torque rotors or not. If not, you may want to pick up one of the high torque spec rotors as they have a lot more rip than the older ones. The "bump" on the newer rotors feels stronger than the trinity or reedy motors ive tried if you have no idea.

I would keep adding gear. You may even want to turn the timing down a little, and add more gear. I run around 3.5-3.7 on the 17.5, so you may end up being closer to mid to low 4's FDR

Thanks Mike, I could try adding a little more gear and see where that takes me. I'll also have to take the motor apart and try to confirm exactly which rotor I'm using. I was looking for rotors on the website, but didn't see where I'd place an order...

Again, thanks for the assistance...
