I haven't used it since making the new can. The can is from a dead D3 that i had laying around. I milled it down from 44mm to 40mm and then milled the slots in it. There are 4 slots-two on each side, and a rectangular hole on the top of the can lime the stock can.
I can take another pic when i get home.
It isn't legal for roar events...i just did it for something to do.

A bit hard to see with the fan shroud, but the air can flow right through the motor now.

No idea...i haven't run it with the new can, and I'd have to run it back -to- back with each can to know.

Hi guys

Any tips on starting gearing for a 17.5 splus in TC on outdoor asphalt.

Track is medium sized (100ft plus straight and 16sec lap) grip should be ok and ambient temp low?

Any starting suggestions would be great. I gear a 24k at this track at 3.4

with 16 sec laps, sounds pretty big..... for our 100x48ish track I went to 4.6 FDR with about 30 deg timing..... not sure about the 3.4 for the Trinity, but I wouldn't go lower than 4.0 with the S-plus

I just ordered one of the S-Plus motors. I am a bit concerned about heat as I observed one guy cook his motor. I do not know how he was geared and the quality of his fan. I do think that Reedy should sell a new motor sleeve with more cooling holes to cool the coils better. Thoughts? FYI this motor appears to be very good......not a hater here....

Um, there's almost no can, there's really no way this thing should have cooling issues....
I don't run them, but I like the way the motor is designed and I was stopping in to see what you guys thought of them....
if u overheat this thing, ur doin it wrong

People need to gear 5-8 teeth lower than a typical motor. I'm also timed around 35 degrees.

I haven't had an issue with heat.

For me...21.5 Touring Car. I also run 17.5 as well. Medium to large size asphalt tracks.... 110-160 feet straight.....

To the other guy... Nick Adams reviewed this motor (YouTube) and made comments about the can and possible overheating. In all fairness he basically implied that this motor was a beast and people may over gear it. He made a comment as to how the can was made and that minimal air flow gets to the coils. All I am saying is there may be a simple solution to this by redesigning the sleeve. I ordered one so I am a believer.....

33* timing, start 78 mm RO, no more than 80mm.

Anyone here have any input or experience with the 13.5 splus in a 4wheeler buggy on carpet ? Looking for gearing or fdr starting points for gray carpet 75-80' straight 14sec laps?
