thanks.
I like to run my radio at 100 EPA for throttle and brake when I setup the speedo. For Timing I normally start with medium and same for start power. I run no lipo cutoff and no reverse.

After I run the car I change the deadband to whatever feels best for me. Normally for brushless I leave thie default setting. After so the run I also determince if I need more timing and higher start power.

i am currently running my orion motor and i am experiencing a great deal of hesitation at the start of the race or if i hit and have to start from stop.

Yeah that can happen with those. I have yet to try my newest Orion 13.5 without the fan. I would try messing with the timing and start power to highest setting. Try the timing at each setting to see if any those change the amount of hesitation you get.

For those looking into Sidewinders mine is working perfectly. I run the 5700 combo in my 2wd offroad buggy and it runs great. Have tons of power and tons of adjustments on the speedo to help tune it in. Can't say enough on how well this system is working for me racing offroad. For the price it is the best bang for the dollar around. Castle really did and outstanding job on this one.

A 5700 kv motor will be similiar to around a 9 to 10 turn and or if you like number ratings it is a 7.0 if you compared to KV ratings of the 6.5 or 7.5 the 5700 is right in the middle.

im more worried about the performance of the ESC to be honest. i know that the 5700 is a very strong motor. i know a guy who uses the mamba max with a 5700. but how is the ESC compared to say the mamba max esc?

I have been running a Sidewinder with a 5700 in my BJ4 WE since we built the first prototypes and have had zero problems with it. I have a buddy who runs a 10x2 in his B44 and I was having to get off the throttle to keep from running over him on the straights this weekend. I havent had time to try the Mamba Max with the new software on the track yet, so I cant really compare. The Sidewinder does extremely well on the track in 2wd and 4wd though.

The Mamba Max is still the high end ESC for Castle at this time. It is more efficient, can run lower wind brushless motors or lower wind brushed motors and won't thermal easily.

The Sidewinder isn't as efficient but I doubt we could actually tell unless we are close to dumping and nowadays that almost never happens anymore. If your not going ot run wild motors the Sidewinder will be just as nice as the Mamba Max but if your really wanting to step on it and want to run very hot motors then the Mamba Max will still be better overall.

I normally don't run any lower than a 19T brushed or 5700 brushed so I can get away with either speedos, but right now I use the Sidewinder.

what about size? which one is smaller? the sidewinder has all the programming of the mamba right? you just need to get the linkage?
