sorry i meant 200F. whats the long term effect of running the esc above 200F. at the end of the long straght (300 ft+) the seemed to loose brakes at the coming on to the end ov the run. im using below 50% brake power.

I have read that guys are putting an extra cap on the ESC at least 1/8 scale brushless conversions and it lowers temps. Maybe it will help you?

I currently use a MM in a brushless 1/8 that was modded with holes in the case for cooling and an external BEC and it works great. Castle dig a really good job on beefing it up.

I hope to get one of the first MMM when they become available and use it in a truggy and buggy too.

I got a question on the mamba 1/18 scale units. I heard of issues that the ESCs are more on and off than linear. Has this been corrected ? I am thinking of trying the mamba setup, but guys local are saying the tekin is more smooth.

I messed around with my neighbors 18t with the MM brushless in it and it is as smooth as you want it to be. The control of making it smooth is up to the operator and his finger or using the computer to change the programming of the speedo with Castle Link and adjusting a few settings.

I can easily make it take off smooth and real slow and then pull the trigger as fast as I can and then it just lays down the power.

What settings would I want to adjust. My RB5, with 5700 has good power, but it seems to have a little dead spot just after take off and then really kicks in hard. I takes of from a dead stop hard, but then only really goes closer to full throttle.

I remember messing with the throttle curve on my 4wd and it seemed to help. But I can't remember what I did and I've been to lazy to hook it up to my computer to check the settings.

Actually does anyone know what gearing they are running in a Kyosho Lazer with a 7700. Mine gets pretty hot. I like the feel of the motor with my current gearing, but I don't think it should be getting that hot.

Use low start power and the rest factory settings. Your throttle should be linear with the throttle cure set to the stock position and should be as smooth in the power delivery as you can be smooth on the throttle.

It is so good to see you finding the time "to check out the forums" and in many cases, rubbishing your competitors on their threads. You're a great ambassador for Novak and they must be proud to have you representing them on the forums...

Joe Ford keep up the great work. If these guys feel they need to post rubbish like this in your thread, they clearly think that you are a threat! Keep sticking it to them!

Joe, what is the normal operating range for the motor and esc? i assume the max temps from your previous post are motor = 200F and esc = 275F+.

To confirm by MM you mean the 1/18 scale mamba unit right? When I see MM, I think it refers to Mamba Max, the 10th scale unit. If that is the case that you can dial it in as you want that is great since alot of guys I talked to just use the tekin unit as they couldn't get it to perform as they wanted. I will definitely give it a second look.

As for your 5700 question, I had a similar thing going on till I played with the punch and traction settings.

Ran offroad for the 3rd week using my Mamba Max 4600 system and Express Motorsports batteries. Everything worked great. I did gear down some this weekend from 22/78 to 20/78 and the car was better overall. Been having zero problems and very happy with overall performance of my Mamba Max.

Been a learning experiance going back to offroad after so much time off. One thing still applies to all racing and that is to make sure you have your setup right......or at least have the car with the right parts on it. I been running with one thing and found out I have something different. Damn I hate when I do that.

Cain...yes, he meant the 1/18th Mamba...the original BL system. You can dial in a Mamba as much as you can a MM. Snag a Castle Link if you really want to dial things in...you can do the same thing for a 1/18th with a Mamba system as you can with a MM for a 1/10th scale. The latest version of software on the Mamba is smooth enough you don't NEED the link...but it's always a +.

process...keep the motor under 200F...the ESC 275F is ok.

veecee

Scrad...we're going to add dead band adjustments to the MM...probably in the next revision of software. It works awesome. There will always be a little "dead time" from the moment you pull the trigger til the tires light up though...this is primarily due to the battery voltage dropping under the high amp load.

jopor...unfortunately most PDAs do not have the ability to support USB server clients, and do not have available drivers for software like ours...if it becomes possible in the future, u know we'll be all over it.

Ok, that sounds good. I ended up playing with the profiles and found one that I liked that didn't have as much of a dead spot. All is good now. Just waiting for the sensored update to run my 13.5 in touring car.

Have you guys thought of making something like a pit wizard type device?

I picked up a brushless RC18T, but it will come with the tekin system. If it doesn't perform as I am expecting, I'll swap it out for a mamba setup.

I do know this, for 1/18 sedan or smaller, the mamba will be on my list.
