Allan...yes, that is normal. ESC's are slaves to the receiver. When you turn the switch off you are leaving the ESC open to signals from any source that is sending out pulses in the 1ms-2ms 50Hz range (what the ESC operates on). The capacitors hold a charge for 4-5 seconds, and during this time if the controller receives a "valid" pulse from the receiver, it's going to run the motor like it's told. Do not flip the switch with the battery plugged in...it's only there for programming and calibration (you'd need 3 hands if it wasn't there 
)...flipping the switch off with power plugged in can also erase the calibration on the controller. I use a dental rubber band (the kind dentists give patients with braces) to keep mine in the on position at all times.

What about putting an on/off switch inline for the battery?
At our track when some people break or stop during a race, the marshalls always look for the on/off switch to turn off the car until the race is done. With what you are saying, even in this circumstance, that isn't good for the calibration retention.
If there is a conspicuous switch inline from the batt connector to the esc, that will essentially be the same as unplugging the batt. If that scenario will work, do you suggest inline on the pos or neg wire.

I just thought i would let the castle guys know your system is great. I have several systems . I have 2 u-force 75's with hacker 6 turn motors and a novak gtb with a 4.5 motor and the 7700 is in my opinion the best! I ran it last week on a dirt oval in a custom works sprint car. It was drawing a crowd as it was pulling wheelies down the straightaways. It looked like the real thing. I had a smile on my face everytime i pulled the trigger on it. It has to be the most fun i ever had racing yet. Thanks Castle Creations!

Ran mine in brushed mode the other day and I had a strange problem. The ESC seemed to cut out 3 or 4 times in the middle of the straight. Anyone else had issues like this?
