What was the email in reference to, when did you send it, and what's your email addy? I'll see if I got it.

Can I beat the touring nitro guy with my brushless setup?

I race with a Yokomo BD Masami with Mamba 7700 and MaxAmps 7.4 6000mah. At the last race I was about .5 sec. from the TQ. It's not a lot if you consider that a lap take about 16.5 sec. . I'm faster in the thight section but I'm not fast enough in the long straight (150' to 200').

I know that a 3S and 5700 will be faster but is there some setup that will help me with what I already have? What will be the best configuration for my Mamba to achive the best performance?

I can't go higher on the gear ratio because the temperature already go higher than 200 after 8 minutes.

I guess one issue is the shaft size, as I understand it, the Vendetta pinions are 2.3mm and the mamba shaft is 2.0 (some have suggested using a piece of copper tubing to increase the shafts diameter)
The main allegation is that the mambas get hot and the implication seams to be the Vendetta weighs too much for the mamba to handle. I have had limited experience with 1/18th scale but I know that mambas work real well in Xray m18s. I would be real interested in some one from Castle Cr. reading the posts on the Vendetta threads and answering the critics. I don't trust what a couple people say as the result of limited and un-scientific testing. I would like a second opinion.
I can't give you anything scientific but here's a video of a Mamba 6800 powered Vendetta buggy:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...49639000&hl=en

The only thing I added was a heat sink for the motor and I adapted a 55 tooth RC18T spur so I could use the 2mm pinions. The gearing was at 12/55. I had a 2 cell lipo in it. The motor and ESC were used for four months straight (probably around a hundred runs between races and practice) when that video was taken and it still ran like new.

Since the ST tires are bigger, the 5400 or 4200 motor would be better. I plan on testing this combo soon.

I'm sure you've seen videos of the Permax powered Vendettas and you probably noticed that they are fast in a straight line but not so fast around the track. Some of it is the driver but I think a lot of it is just too much power to push that little car around.

No one know the best setup to program my speed control... timing, punch, etc?

Look close...it says beta version...as in going out for testing to private parties, not released to the public. We can't just release it to the public without extensive testing so you may be still looking at quite some time before it's released.

Joe, good buddy old pal, can you sneak me a copy of that beta firmware? I'll be a super good beta tester.

Default Thanks TTppII

WHen I was shopping for the Vendetta I saw many RC18s Vendettas and mini infernos for sale on Ebay and almost half of them had brushless and 90% of those were mambas. It was hard to believe that such a popular set up didn't work very well. With defferent geaeing options and programmable options using castle connect it seems that the mamba offers at least as much as other brushless if not more. I assumed th only problem when it comes to pinions is that the pinions that come with the vendetta will not work with mamba, must I change out the spur or can I just use the stock spur anf find some 2mm pinions with the same pitch. I guess there is some confusion with thr pitch of pinions with M18, Vendetta and RC18 all taking a slightly different pitch? Thanks again.

crash, 4600s 1st outing, very pleased, more useable power on this track that is gettin slower every wk as it gets beat. still have to hold her back. question? did it ever cog on u. i couldnt confirm if it was a cog (wire2wire connection) or a radio hit (had to go 911 and run an AM system when my new spek module for my m8 was DOA). in the main it only did it once, just a moment, then seemed fine best i could tell. was very safe on temps so no issue there (speedo 130/motor 155). will see when i run it on a better form of transmission.

ended up 5th today (3rd amongst the mere mortals). had 3rd gave it away 2turns from end. oh well.

keep on pluggin people
