Any word yet on the Software for running sensored motors?
#47

i have a mamba 25 esc and for some reason it has stoped emitting a loud tone on start up and when programming you can barley hear the chimes? the controller seems to be working ok other then some hesitation on launch but i think the motor is dragging the voltage down.. the motor is a trinity cobalt b.

29TC...no update yet. Sorry...been extremely hectic around the office.
speedpro...something is wrong with the motor. The ESC makes no sounds...it makes the motor make the sounds.

I'm thinking about getting a Mamba Max, but I don't have overabundance of room in the car, and the car is sensitive to where the weight is placed.
The dimensions of the MM are listed as 1.9 x 1.3 x 1.2". Not sure if this includes the circuit board or not.
I don't have a problem with the length or the height, but the width could be an issue, and it depends on how much the circuit board sticks out.
What is the width of the case, NOT including the circuit board? In other words, how big is the bottom of the case that will get stuck down to the chassis?
Thanks!

Question about using the esc with a brushed motor....Can you just hook it up per the manual and the esc will autodetect that it is a brushed motor or do you have to go into the castle link software and tell it?

Joe,
I always told the esc it was going to be using brushed or bl....it says in the manual that you need to tell the esc.

I sent an email to your company with questions before I found this thread.
I see in this thread that the Mamba Max CAN be used with a stock brushed motor. Please confirm this.
Also, I race carpet on-road with a mamba brushless setup in my AE18T and love it.
I have the Castle Link PC cable.
When I purchase a Mamba Max ESC for my TC3 for stock class, your website says that a PC cable comes with it. Will the one I have work? Can I buy the esc without one if my cable works?
Regards
Allan

Allan,
Yea the speedo will run any brushed motor you just have to plug it in and tell it to used brushed/ wire acordingly.
In the box you will get a cd with the software and a usb cable. The MM does not need the small adapter that plugs into the reciver plug, it takes a standard cable and has a usb port on the side.

Thank you
It would seem that the Mamba Max is the way to go.
What makes it not ROAR legal. My local track doesn't follow them to the letter (yet) but I do plan to travel a bit in my region and would like to know what might happen once I get to my destination.
What disadvantages do other drivers have by not running one, I mean, If the motor is a stock 27T and battery are legal, what makes the electronics not?
Regards

Allan,
The Mamba Max ESC is ROAR legal, it is the Mamba Max brushless motor itself that is not ROAR legal.
I have been running my Mamba Max ESC in brushed mode for about 4 months now. I have not had any problems with it and cosnider it to be up there with the top speedos in the industry.
I set my ESC up with forward/no reverse, brushed high power for racing. As for wiring I hook up the red wire to the positive and the black to the negative and leave the white wire disconnected(wires that go to the brushless motor) and leave the red and black wires for the battery alone. There is no need to put the red, white and black(brushless motors wire) wires on the negative tab and then split the red wire(battery wire) to the positive battery and positive motor.
Hope this helps.
