Thicker rotors give more punch from what I understand. They can create more heat though as well. Basically you are moving the magnets closer together so they act stronger. Tuning rotors are only allowed in the mod classes.

Bonded rotors are not as good as sintered rotors. The eariler BL motors used bonded rotors but if the motors got hot the rotor would go out and toast the motor. This happened a lot. They started sintering the rotors and they were able to take a lot more heat and the motors became more reliable. About all the motors out now are sintered although you can still find some budget motors with bonded rotors (which are cheaper to make) but I would stay far far away from them!

Good to see you here, Casper!!

I just re-read the Roar rules. There is a section on
tuning rotors for spec classes. They are allowed, up
to a certain size. They must be submitted with the motor,
or can be submitted later, but they are allowed as long
as they have been approved. That's my reading of it.

This came up last year also. Would you mind reading the
rules and see how you interpret them???????

Yes that is true. My understanding is they are allowing companies to submit spec motors with different rotars. The way I understand it is you have to submit all versions of the motor (ie a motor with each rotor) and ROAR will approve the configurations that are submitted if they meat all the rules. Then the user can swap rotors in their motor to make any approved configuration they want after the configuration has been submitted and approved. If the specific motor is not submitted as a whole with that part number rotor it would not be legal for racing.

This is all for the onroad guys. I don't really know anyone in the offroad ranks that is tuning motors like this but it I am sure it might happen eventually.

I am always lurking around here Mom. Just speak up when I have a good question to answer!

Yes, it happened all last year. Just trying to get the rules
straight in my head before this year starts!!

Did you see my Buckeyes???????? Loved it!! Toby had a
great game for Stanford, but without Luck, they just couldn't
quite do it. Tebow had a great game, felt so sorry for Colt
McCoy. All-in-all, a good college season! Now I'm all
excited for the Pros and the Super Bowl!!

I know you're here, most of the boards have been kind of
quiet. Glad to see you're home from your vacation!!

Yeah I watched your buckeyes. I had mixed feelings in that game. I hate the ducks but I try and be a fan of the Pac 10 for the bowl games. It was a pretty good game for most of it and YOUR OSU pulled it out. MY OSU had a horrible game. Seeing Colt out in the first drive sucked really bad but Texas still made a game out it so good for them.

Glad to be home. Just need to find a way to the track again soon!

good news. I do get to run at crcrc winter champs. Daryl is passing this year, she is applying to a film school in florida, for this fall i hope. Funny part she was afraid i would be angry at her for spending her hard earned money for the application fees instead of running this event. So wish me luck , as always i will represent as best of my abilities. Field is much larger this year , so it will be tough. Will i be the only member of the Banzai nation there?

So im trying to learn a little about all this brushless stuff. Since its the "new technology, greatest thing since electric blankets, ect. ". What are the advantages / disadvantages of using different sized rotors and all? What is the difference between a bonded rotor and a sintered rotor?
RG is for sure eracing the Chili Bowl. Says it is a blast driving a Midget and now wants to get his own...... The last weekend of Feb. good for you and Mom Scott? 2 day show at Perris with USAC Natiuonal Sprint Cars and Midgets both nights
