I"m having a BIG problem trying to get gearing right for my RT-5! ! I know the tranny internals are the same as a T-4 but you can't fit the same spur and pinion combo on the Kyosho motorplate that most guys are running for 17.5. I'm in the ballpark with the FDR and still seem to be getting motored on the straght everywhere I go. Any suggestions that can help please thank you in advance..........

What gears are you running? You will probably need to go to an AE 72 to get proper gearing for a 17.5. Use the AE gear and the AE slipper pads. Everything else can stay kyosho.

You should be around 6.11 for FDR.

On my T4, I'm using a 75 tooth spur using a 31 or 32 pinion, depending on the track.

Kyosho makes a 76 and a 78 spur. Not sure if you can get a 76/31 on the k truck. Stock spur is an 82.

75/32 worked the best tonight. I tried a 33 and a 31 also and the 32 was the one to go with that put me at 6.12 FDR. with a 78 spur you can't co bigger than a 28 pinion without notching the motorplate

I like 7.11 for 13.5 but be a little careful in hot weather. It will work great for Peg at night or OCRC anytime. HRH in 100+ weather you will be a little toasty!

turned my first 15 lapper at crcrc yesterday. cranked timing all the way up on my truck and let it rip. still came off track at 153 with 30/78 gearing . these motors and speedos rock. missed 15 in buggy by less then two seconds and got third in the amain. with gt2 and v2 motor. loving it.
