Hi again,

2wd day is now over, and another Australian title for Banzai. I took out qualifying and all three finals for Super Stock. All I can say is once again thanks to Banzai for all your support, it really does mean alot to me and I hope we can continue this winning trend throughout the year.

Hey Guys,

Has been a while since I posted but just have been so flat out trying to get this event over and done at our local track.

I have been spending a lot of time on thw website/video content for this event. I figure most of you have seen it www.epnationals.com.

On the results, over the last 2 days, Shane has just been amazing. His car's have been on fire all weekend. It has been great to watch him in the Super Stock (10.5) class.

I am very happy about my performance too in 4wd. Another A Main at nationals, finished 8th this year instead of 10th... well I think, I actually need to check the results.... lol

Anyways, Truck day is back underway so will post more in a few days after some sleep!!!

Judi, will try to call you this week for a chat!

Default Back in the game...

Well, yesterday was our first race after nearly 7 months. Jason was so pumped. OK so was I!

We arrived and he jumped right onto the track to spend about 15-20 min getting back into the groove. You could see the flashes of brilliance and the rust. He came off feeling pretty good and Dad of course was feeling good too.

There ended up being twelve racers to run the 19T division--So they ran it as two classes of six.

First heat -- no go. Silly Dad needs to get better at soldering. Had him back on the track for the last 2 min. He came off with the third fastest lap times of that heat, so we felt good.

Second heat -- not quiet enough. Had dropped to a tooth on the pinion to give him a little more torque, but didn't pay off like we hoped. So ended up with a good heat, but qualified for the B-main. Missed A-main by probably one lap. (Which if things would've went well in the first heat he may of made the A-main--oh well. )

B-Main -- Off the line and to the front! Had me going WOW in the first three laps. Went to the front (#4 qualifier) and began to pull away like it was nothing -- That Banzai 19T was roaring! But as luck would have it...came down from a jump not quiet right, and paid for it with a broken rear ball stud.

He was a little down about not finishing, knowing he was doing pretty darn well for not racing in awhile. But once he sat down and realized it was a lot of fun and there will always be "tomorrow" he was all smiles and asking when we were going to race again.

The plan is to head to Tallahassee next weekend. The track there is bigger and the folks are just as fun to be around. So we’re already getting ready.

Congrats to the Team Banzai Aussie and I look forward to letting everyone know how we’re doing over here in NW Florida and how you all do around the world.

-Drew

Default Some pinion help...

The Banzai 19T seems to love the 19-tooth pinion in the XXX-T (86-tooth spur gear) at our track.
But the track we're going to on Saturday is not a high-traction slightly blue grove surface like our club track--it's considered a soft track and it's bigger. (They say Losi StepPins and JC Concepts Goosebumps work good.)
So figured take away little torque and add a little more speed.
I put a 20t pinion and ran around the street with it and it heated up of course more than it does with a 19-tooth.
What would be considered TOO hot for it? I do have a temperature tool.

Thanks
-Drew

Hey Drew, that 19 tooth sounds pretty close. I run a 18/87 on my T4 which is 12.5:1 I'm kind of old school when it comes to temping brushed motors. If it runs good and it doesn't fade in you 5-6 min race, it's good.

Good luck

P.S. If it glows red, it's too hot

I have noticed if hood or can temps get in the 200's your brushes are toast. The motor will run better a lower temps. Gearing up a brushed motor is not always the best. I gear for infield punch and make sure I can clear all the jumps. Straight line speed does not win offroad races.

Well, I'm not one of the guys, so I have to test it the

"ladies" way, if you can't hold your finger on it for 2 seconds,

it's too hot!!!! Then I tell them to go see Scott or Casper!!

Sorry I haven't been on here much, Jason and I still have this cold

bug! AND I think we just passed it on to Scott!

CACTUS update: Stock is 13.5 and SS is 10.5. First class

is $65.00 and second is $45.00. From the emails and phone

calls I've received today, I think lots of people are rethinking

this race.

DOWNTOWN, I am so sorry we didn't make the race. I haven't

been this sick in a long time and didn't move beyond the couch.

Hope you aren't at me! I WILL get there soon!

Thanks Judi, Scott and Casper.

I agree with you Casper about the infield punch. I feel that 80% or more of the race is going from jump-to-jump and corner-to-corner. We'll stick with the 19-tooth and see how he likes it and how his times are. I just worry that it'll be a little too much torque out of the corners being a softer track then what Jason is use too. But it's one reason why we're going--to run on a different surface.

Scott, since they run 3 qualifiers I think I'll toss on the 20-tooth for the second heat and see how it responds.

On Sunday we are heading yet to another race, that the surface is a little more like what he runs at B&T.

He's gun-ho right now to race where he can before the Battle at the Beach in March. Wants to top last year's placing.

For me it just means more tinkering with the vehicles. LOL

Questions?? Best way to get pinion gear off??

I have a pinion gear with a stripped hex screw.
We tried grooving it for a flathead and it didn't work.

Do I have to now drill it out??

-Drew

P.S.
Anyone know where I can find a ROAR legal 8000MAh lipo?
We're looking at a race where we might run a 30-min against nitro stadium trucks! :P
