Team Helmet which included Banzai team drivers of Jake McGarvey and Casper as well as Keith Whisler, Greg Hodap and Mike Truhe won the 5 hour event. It was one heck of a race. We only had one major issue were we broke a front shock when our truck was stepped on by a turnmarshal. We were 4 laps down at the time early in the race. Jake McGarvey was able to wheel the slash to put us on the same lap as the leaders in his second drive of the event and then handed over the radio to me and I was able to take the lead and put an additional 4 laps on the field. From there we never looked back. It was a very long race but what fun!

Smooth and consistent driving makes all the difference in an enduro

Nice good job.

I ended up 7th of 11 in mod 2wd. The car was just not right and made it hard for me to drive. I let myself get roughed up a bit too. My 4wd had been good but I just could not get a handle on it. I ran my quickest lap so far but the balance was way off. I went from a 3200 trak power saddle pack to a 4900 SMC and the car was not happy. I need to get a scale and get the car back down to what it weighed with the old pack. I was frustrated last night on the way back, but I am back on the horse and looking forward to the 2.5 hour trip to Dallas next Saturday.

Mom, Props to Casper and Jake for leading thier team to an impressive victory, but how could he not post the "banzai Nation" team rallied to finish 3rd ?? It was the most eciting part of the whole 5 hour race. The Banzai Nation team consisted of Jeremy Felles, Alex Alvarez, Brian and Darrin Halverson and Matt Olsen. I think it was Brian Halverson who stepped on Casper's team car, but not on purpose Each driver handled the controls for 30 minute intervals and after the 1 round of driving (2.5 hours), The Nation was sitting in 6th place, but each team driver stepped up to provide their best and with (2) drivers left, Alex and Fezz, we were sitting in 5th place. Alex drove the best 30 minutes he could muster, throwing down some great lap times and got the Nation into the 4th spot, leaving it all to the Fezz to get the Nation on the podium (OCRC doesn't have a podium)
Fezz was 3 laps down to 3rd place and had 30 minutes to git R done and like all big-time stars, Fezz delivered, catching the 3rd place car with about 3 minutes left, then holding on for 3rd place with a battery that just barely had enough. The team showed great teamwork and communication. To win 3rd by just seconds after a 5 hour run. Wow, exciting. Way to go Banzai Nation !!!

I was waiting for someone on that team to give a full report. I did get to watch the final leg as Fez tore up the track but did not have the whole Banzai team story. You guys did a fantastic job of making up all that time. Shows you should never give up in an eduro race.

A big thumbs up to Pit Dad, for coming and helping us out. He was in charge of making sure we had batteries really to go the whole time. And thanks to Alex for filling in with little track time, and did a great job.

Halve, Thanks for the props, it was a really fun event and I love stuff that requires teamwork. Thanks for letting Alex and I help out. I am suprised at how high a tolerance level Brian has.. That guy was yelling stuff at him, some names I have never heard and he calmly turned away and ignored the guy.
