casper. so your final drive is 5.12. with my losi if i run 65/31 i get 5.17. im looking to stay up with the 13.5s at crcrc and need the 17.5 for nats, i'm sure u heard by now that they are in omaha neb which is about 13 hours from me . so i plan on making the trip this year which is why i want the 17.5. let alone getting spanked each week by the 13.5s . so if i have it right i should be able to stay with them or be faster. right now they are putting two laps on me in quals. havent made the a since opening day. they are running 76/30 i think with k cars and b4s with 13.5s. just have to do something about it LOL. thanks

Mom and Scott, just wanted to throw out a big "Thanks". Alex has had a great 2008 season and he could not have had the success with all of your help and support. We also wanted to say "Thanks" to Team Banzai, Jeremy Hase, Fez, Casper, Ryan Dunford, Bob and Ryan James and others (too many to name). The experience and knowledge that is part of Team Banzai is priceless. I am sure I will have more useless and hopefully funny stuff between now and the next race...but Thanks a lot !!

kstarr-- A properly geared 17.5 will not compete with a properly geared 13.5. No way of doing this. It is like trying to get your stock motor to keep up with a 19T.

Now a properly geared 17.5 will run great against a good 27T.

If they are allowing 13.5 in stock at CRCRC then I would get a 13.5. Do some testing with the 17.5 so you get a gearing you like for nats but if the rules allow 13.5 I would run it. They are that much faster.

Kstarr, I just sent you an email stating what Casper just said.
Thanks Casper, I don't have to post that here now!!

Pit dad, Thank you! You and Alex have been a real joy this year!
This "Jones" girl really appreciates all your support too!

BTW: Looks like you and Scott have to pick a new girl, Misty
might be out due to injury!!!!!!

ok heres where u lose me an i lose u . dan griffin is beating the 13.5s with his 27t co27 and there is a couple of more stockers in the mix. dans lap times are right there with them or better. see why im confused. maybe they arent gearing them right and they are mostly novak and lrp 13.5s not sp. ie less torque. and out of 15 buggies i have been in the b. missed the a by one lap and 6 seconds . and what fdr for 13.5s ?

KStarr, we're really comparing apples and oranges here.

Griffin is an excellent and fast driver and I have no idea what

stock motors he is running. Also, you don't have any of our

stock motors yet, so I have no idea what you are running.

Best advise I can give you is to make up your mind if you're

going to run brushless or brushed, and then buy what

motor you're going to run the most, as Casper said.

Everybody wants an "equivalent" and they really are

very different motors, brushed and brushless.

On a smaller track stock motors can keep up. A great stock driver can run very consistant lap times and will win races even against mod motors.

In a drag race a properly geared 13.5 will smoke a stock motor. Don't care who's it is assuming you are using the same batteries.

In general BL motors tend to have more bottom end then there brushed "equivalents" Here is the catch. A fast driver will always beat a slower one regardless of the motor. For most club racers less motor will result in faster more consistant lap times. More motor is harder to control and you blow out corners and crash more.

Bottom line is 17.5 BL and 27T brushed are pretty close in speed. I would give an edge to a properly geared 17.5 as they seem to have more bottom but close to the same top and I win more races in the infield then I do on the straight.

If you are planning on running stock at nats then I would get the 17.5 and learn to drive it as hard as you can. Stock driving at the nationals level mean you really need to learn to carry lots of corner speed and stay on the gas. If that is your goal I personally would go that route.

Glad you didn't beat yourself in your backyard. That would be a hard one to explain.

Sucks you got rained out. We had light misting of the track all day sat but luckly never enough to stop racing.

[QUOTE=BanzaiMom;4872598]

Also, we are expanding the product line. We will have 1/8 scale
electric BL motors soon, and BL motor checkers and also
we WILL be carrying LIPOS soon. We'll make the "big" announcements
as products come in. If you are interested in Lipos, email me and
let me know what you would like to see us carry, such as, saddle-packs,
etc.
[QUOTE]

I may have missed something, but what is a BL Motor Checker??

For all you 4wd guys, now that the JBRL is over and we got to experience all types of tracks what turn (if that is what you still call it) BL would you recommend. I feel like a 10.5 would be plenty on several of the smaller tracks but you may need a little more at some places like Revelation. Any thoughts?

I have been running a 6.5 and like it. IT is a little much for a place like ocrc but felt it was a great motor for hrh, rev, hemet, thunderalley. I have not run it on a tight slick track yet but feel it is a great motor. You can always turn down the power with the speedo as well.
