Need some help guys, just got my Banzai 6.5bl motor and speedo for my xxx-tcr, what is the recommended final drive ratio for this combo, I need a good starting point to work from. Also, when soldering up the speedo, which leads do I solder the Capacitors to? I have been out of electrics for several years racing MX, my son And I started back rcing last year, but have been running nitro, so I have forgotten all the electric does and don'ts
Thanks

Solder the red and black wires of the capacitor to the red and black wires on the ESC. I do it right where the black and red wires are attached at the speedo.

Here's a paragraph off our FAQ page for gearing. I hope it helps

Q: What do I gear the motor at?
A: Gearing will depend on the car and the track. Brushless motors have a lot more torque then brushed motors. As a result they are being geared much higher then what we gear brushed motors. As we get some more testing done with these motors in different cars we will be able to answer this better. Here is a rule of thumb though for mod motors (7.5 or less). Take the wind of the BL motor and double it. This is an approximate Brushed equivalent. (ie. 6.5 X 2 = 13T) Start gearing the motor the same as the brushed equivalent and go up from there. Keep an eye on motor temps. Try and keep the motor under 160 deg F and never hotter then 180 deg F. You can adjust gearing based on track conditions. The more gear you give the motor the faster it will go but temps will go up as well. For the 10.5, 13.5 and 17.5 motors we are finding you need much taller gears to get these motors to work at there full potential. More info on these motors will come as we get more track time.

I just got back from testing the 10.5 with a trakpower 4900 at hot rod. I started with a 21/76 and went to a 22/76 and gearing up really helped make the car sing. You can definitely tell when the car is geared correctly. I ran for about 10 min and the motor was starting to get hot. Ill report tomorrow night after i race 5-7 min club races.

Well, been out at Pegasus all day, and night racing! Lots

of fun racing, club racing is still my favorite!! Nobody had

a TV, so I missed the game, BUT Jason called and gave me updates.

As ugly as it was by phone, glad I didn't see it!! My poor

Buckeyes!!!!!!!! HOWEVER, all is not lost! I'm a "Woody"

Buckeye, and the ONLY game that matters is beating Michigan!

So, I'll just look forward to that game!

KROPY: I was born and raised outside of Warren, Ohio. About

50 miles south of Cleveland. My dad was a HUGH sports fan,

and being the oldest daughter, he "instilled" sports in me.

I LOVE my Buckeyes, and Browns! And yes, Jim Brown was

the best ever, I'm that old, old enough to remember him!

Where are you from???? Ohio where????

MoM,
ALex and I were a fixture at OC/RC this past weekend, Alex raced SS 2wd and Sportsman Mod 4wd. He won the 4wd on both Friday and Sunday. Sunday's race featured Tony Phelan and Danny Greco and he held them both off for a win. RB is trying to treat the track with some sort of maple syrup mixture to increase the traction and it made a pretty good difference. the lap times were definately faster. We will be working on our 2wd stuff this weekend. Sorry to hear you were rooting for the Buckeye's, but I have always thought they were over-rated, but I love college football. Also, I am searching the internet for more stuff for Scott, I need to keep his blood pressure at a high level. See you all soon.
