Actually I got more then just the JBRL out of that motor. I got 7.5 series races and the Reedy truck race out of that motor! (It was done and replaced it after the first round of quals for the final round of the JBRL)

I totally agree with don't put too many runs on the motor I would say 6-8 tops. Believe it or not the arm will last longer and run stronger with more skims versus letting the comm get "hour glassed" like mom said and having to make a deeper cut.

My point was get your 3ish good runs out of the motor and then get a couple more in practice. If the motor is not getting too hot and geared properly you can stretch out a couple more good runs and then cut and rebrush!

TOTALLY agree with you, Casper! With so many
novice racers at the JBRL, I was just giving the
"flip" side of the coin that we saw this past
week-end!

Oh I have seen those. With mod motors you can go from good to bad on on the comm pretty quick as well. I have seen some motors that just make you go and then think and go oh well and give her a good cut and everyone is .

With all of us around that are more then willing to cut a motor there really should not be an excuss for not cutting a motor. If you are running novice or don't have new brushes if they aren't burnt up bad we can clean the brushes up and run them some more as well. It is always better to use new ones but for club racing you can get away with running them again if needed!

i agree with mom and casper on the soaking in accetone and yes i was cutting tires off right before my a-mains..lol
mom what is/does the alum cans thing do that scott does??
mtr's im pretty hard on so after about 3-4 runs its overdue for a cut,i agree light cuts deff better than deep cut's.
acuatlly i recommened speaking with a friendy banzai staff member and they can inspect your BANZAI mtr and advise u what is best..
o and i love nitro when they work good, but hate the mess and them time/maint to keep them running good,i would love to do the jbrl nitro next year ..

Bisbee, Casper mentioned he uses an old paint can to
soak the rims in, I just added I think Scott uses a
coffee can. That was all.

Daniel-- I did some gearing calcs for you in your xxx4 with a 10.5 I would start gearing in the 25-26 range. I have not had any issues with ESC temps running a 10.5 even without the fan but keep an eye on them. With the 10.5 I have been gearing up until the motor gets hot. The motor just gets faster and faster with taller gearing but you need to do you best to keep motor temps under 160F. (180 is the hard limit 160 is the safe limit)

I don't know what's going on up there, but one of our guys that lives up that way said they haven't had an off road race in months. There used to be a hobby shop across the street too, but I don't know if that's still there or not. One of you guys needs to call Jimmy to see if he can find out anything.
