I was lucky to have two good races with Frank Root over the weekend. The race you mentioned was the 19t buggy B-main (not exactly where I wanted to be; I'm definately gonna have to get out to Bakersfield to make up some points). I started out 5th and worked my way up to 1st. Root had a rough start and finally caught up to me with two laps to go. I bobbled on the double-double-single in the middle of the track, and he got by. On the last lap, I tried to pass on the inside of one of the downhill turns but made contact. Although it didn't slow either of us down, I decided to let him go ahead of me as I prefer to keep my passes clean (although everybody that had something to say about that race told me that the pass, although aggressive, was perfectly clean and that I should have held my line). In the last turn, he went wide, while I went to the inside, and we both pulled hard across the line. We had to go to the printout for the results; he edged me out by .001 seconds. Of course, it's not whether you win or lose, it's having fun that's important, and I had a huge smile on my face after that race, as I've always looked up to Frank and he's been helping me out a ton recently, so to be able to have such close racing with him is always a pleasure.
I had yet another close race with Frank in the Mod B main (again, what is it with these B mains not my luck this weekend in qualifying), but this time we battled for second. I held him off until the very last lap when he made an awesome pass on me, triple-doubling the massive double-double-single in the center of the track right over my car. This time around I was about a quarter second behind him when we crossed the line. Nothing beats close racing for fun and excitement!

I am also very happy to say that although the compact flash card I used for most of the weekend in my camera did indeed die on me and will be going back to the manufacturer, I was able to recover all but a handful of the photos on it. Unfortunately there won't be as many pictures this time as usual, but it's better than nothing!

I'd like to thank Jeremy Felles for some great guest announcing! You always make the racing so much more entertaining.

And as usual, it was great to see you and Scott again!

Wow. Just reading these posts makes me jealous I missed this race. Nice to hear the SoCal crew (okay, the Boices too) did well.

I am in New York with my family and my son and I did ship our buggies out to race at the Long Island raceway. My son swept his INT class with a Banzai C027!! It was an open class where the kids could run anything they wanted. Seeing that this was a small indoor track (19 sec laps) I had complete confidence in the Banzai stock. The cool thing is they run three quals and a main. Jordan won every heat...the kids couldn't believe they were beaten by a stock motor!! I got 3rd in 19T even with major traction issues!!

We're planning on hitting SoCal this Sunday!!

See you soon.

Keith won stock truck?!?! Daaaaannnnng.

A BIG HUGE THANK YOU!!!!

to Doug (Casper). You are the man. You have always been there for me and put up with all of my "stuff" (not too sure what is deleted on this forum). You help me out and take care of me when I don't even know I need it. Thank you for keeping me around and for racing with me all of these years, it has been a blast!!! Oh, and thank you for sweating your rear off and watering the track with me, or was I watering with you...either way, the darn track was watered.

YOU ROCK as a man, a racer, and most importantly as a friend!

Racing is always more fun when you have friends around! It has been great to have you back for the rest of this series!

Why is it we always end up watering all day at Hemet. I think that has turned into a regular deal. The track was in great shape water wise though. I was just out there working on my TAN!

Next up is B'fied. Any one know if the track wil be wet or dry? That place is always a crap shoot as to what we will get.

Time to stock up on t-plates and tranny cases!

And I'd like to send a "stupid shout out" (to put it in Jeremy Felles terms)to my Slingshot boys Casper and Ryan for making sure I had a perfect track to run my mains on. You two are not only good racers, your great representatives of my product as well as Banzai. Keep up the great work guys!

Is that from the left corner after the straight?

You should see 12 8th scales out there when the track gets dry! That is a great action shot! Is that from your library Chris? Is there some place we can see other photos you have taken?

Hey Marcus, good to see you found a computer!! I'll talk to ya'

soon then.

I keep thinking of things about this past week-ends race. I wanted to

say a special "Hello" to Ashley. Ashley had school obligations and wasn't

able to race with us this week-end. We missed you Ashley, but we're

really proud of you that you understand the importance of school and

school projects.

We'll see you soon!
