I haven't heard anything on that, but I'm sure he's working on it.

Default Brushless

Hello from tropical North Queensland,Australia.
I dont often post in the forums but this brushless rubbish gets my goat. Why cant all types and classes be catered for. I get very pi...d off when some one tries to enforce their own rules on every-one else. I run Banzai in stock onroad and at our track no brushed motor has got to within 2 laps of a so called equivalent brushless. Of course they dont want the 2 types running together. This would show the disparity between the motors (at least in stock o/road). It is a shame the brushless suppliers all cheat by claiming which motors their products are equivalent to.
I too could go brushless but instead I have gathered a core group of racers at our club who are going to demand the 2 be tested correctly and graded accordingly or separated into completely different classes. We are more than 50% of the class so I am sure the result will be favourable and fair.
Sorry about the rave but this only just touches on my feelings on this issue.
Terry

The problem is really in onroad. In offroad you can still run a brushed motor and be fine cause most of the time more power is a waste. But it has come to the point in sedan to where if your track allows 13.5s and 10.5s you just don't have a choice anymore. You either adapt or get lapped very quickly. And yeah it sucks but its just the way times are changing. I remember when people started running 2000 packs and us guys with black 1700s were getting killed. We had to adapt to keep up. As for the Novak race. Well Novak has a lot of time and money invested in that race and their product. And it will still sell out. Hell I'd be there if I could afford the trip. Its still and always going to be one of the big sedan races of the year and means a ton if you make the show.

I'm going back to my cold meds now

Its sedan though. The money pit of rc racing Lets just add more cost and that whole "must have the latest greatest thing" to it so that nobody will race it

Yes, it is the Novak race. And they can set the rules. They do
have a lot of time and money invested, as do ALL major R/C
companies in their products, even Brushless !

I'm sure nobody would object if the major sponsor of the Snow-
Birds, Trinity, said everybody MUST run Trinity. Or at the Reedy
Races you all MUST run Reedy motors, sorry if you already have
a BL, you must now buy a Reedy brushed etc., or the Losi Race,
you MUST run a Losi---------- Heck, I need to get busy and have
the 1st Annual Banzai Race, and you MUST run a Banzai!!

My major issue is "Choice" and the FREEDOM to choose. We all
CHOSE to go to the 2000 cells. Someday we will all CHOOSE to
go BL, as you say to keep up. But at a time when our hobby that
we all love is suffering ESPECIALLY in club racing, which is where
we need to get back to, EVEN Gil Jr. agrees, with tracks and
stores closing WEEKLY, we need to INCLUDE EVERYONE!

The big races will probably always sell-out, but that's not the
heart and soul of our hobby. But the big races do set the agenda
for all of us, racers and those of us involved in the business.
And I won't even get into the FACT that brushed and BL are
very different in the technology department.

I guess the issue was forced when 17 out of 20 in the A-Mains,
at the IFMAR Off-Road Worlds, and the winners were all running,
and many RETURNED to running, brushed motors.

Just to set the record straight, my husband has a brand new
NOVAK BRUSHED speed control in his truck.

But see it's kind of that way now. At the snowbirds you have to run Trinity handouts. At the Reedy in 19t its reedy quads.

Sorry to move away from the brushless topic, but i have a question about the Checkpoint mod motors. Is there a difference in the color of the can? I have had black ones and got a gunmetal gray one. I didn't think there were torque vs rpm cans.

Yes David, but it's the same technology, with the
SAME ROAR rules. Which BTW, in 30 yrs. we still have to
use bushings in stock, won't even let us use bearings!
Am I consistent, yes, anybody that knows us will tell you
we have ALWAYS been against hand-outs, for the very same
reasons, CHOICE and cost! If you already have motors in your
pit box, you shouldn't have to buy SEVERAL hand-outs, or "rent"
or "borrow" motors. And buy motors that you don't want to
practice with. This is motor AND speed control differences!

Daniel, no difference, just in the color. The gun-barrel grey
are the new cans.
