What benefits are there between a 2 and 3 channel radio. Do I really need the third channel?

Dont mean to hijack your thread Mom but since Banzai make the best motors you just happen to have the best team rivers as well.

Thanks!

WOW that was some great brown nosing.

8th scale worlds is every 2 years. I will agree that is one of the hardest races to win or even make the main. There are 6 rounds of qual just to setup a tier system where you still have to race your way into the main. The only guy guarenteed a spot in the main is TQ from qual. They then split even from odd qualifiers into two brackets. They then run the slowest qualifier rounds from each bracket allowing top 3 to bump to the next round. It goes all the way down to the 1/2A main where the top qualifiers still need to be in the top half of there heat after a 30 min race to make the final main which is an hour! With all the things that can go wrong with a gas car and under LONG races it is quite an accomplishment to make the main for that race twice.

Did you get all that mom?

The 3rd channel can be used with some gas monster trucks for switching gears or even going into reverse. I am not aware of any real uses for electric offroad.

3 channel recievers are also nice for gas cars as you can use the 3rd channel to plug in a personal transponder since you need to use the battery slot of a battery! LOL

I have never used a 3rd channel on a radio before but it does not hurt to have one. I would not pay extra just for the 3rd channel though unless you plan on getting a t-maxx or something like that.

Thanks Casper! I want to get one of those Spektrum 2.4ghz radios but the price difference between 2 and 3 channels is significant. I dont plan on getting a T-maxx any time soon, I just sold the three I had a few months ago.

As long as you play with electric stuff you will not need a 3rd channel. At least I have gone the past 14 years with needing one! The 3 channel recievers work with the 2 channel radio though for that extra plug slot for all my racing gas cars!

Yeah but was he running spektrum! I am pretty sure he wasn't. So to be like him you can just turn on what you already have and ruin other peoples races!

There are not many people I will flame but there are a few that are hard to deal with!

What radio you running? You can convert just about any radio that has a module. You do not need a whole new radio.

We just try and have as much fun as possible!

I am a huge fan of the Keyence Speedo's. You do not hear a lot about them since they do not sponser racers but they are top notch. The Novak GTX seems to be good. The LRP C2 have had power issues with the spectrum but this can be fixed with a $7 cap you plug into the reciever. Tekin is back strong. I hear they have fixed here issues with todays super high voltage batteries.

So Cal and Ultimate hobbies both carry the Keyence speedo's. They are worth looking into. They do not require the use of a large extral capacitor or a shotcky (sp?) diode on the motor. They are fully programable WITHOUT an external device and the LED display makes programming less criptic then figureing out what two blink of a red light followed by a long link of the green light is a good thing or a bad thing!

KO makes a great speedo as well but needs an extral device to program and I think is more advanced then it needs to be especially for offroad racing.

For those that don't know, I have NEVER been able to

get qualifying points straight!!

Yes, I read your post about qualifying, sitting here shaking

my head, and then I saw got that mom?! LOL

Every big race I have to ask Scott, then again Casper, then

It was that hard to figure out who we were talking about, Eric?

Mom, I thought you would get a kick out of that!

Acutally I was not even talking about qual points. The 8th scale worlds format for qualifying makes qual points sound easy!

I had to read the 8th scale worlds system 2-3 times to figure it all out!

It is all racing! The guy who crosses the line first still wins!

Because I never throw anything motor related away,

I have original, Banzai motor stickers!! They are red/black

and have the sword through the Banzai name. So, if you

want that "retro" look on your 10th Anniversary special motors,

let me know when you order!

My goodness, wonder what else I can find in the archives!!

Judi

PS James, you have email!
