Some tracks still require ROAR membership for the insurance benefits. Other then that I would not be a ROAR member. They do nothing for me and the leadership do not seem to make decisions based on the benefit of the racers or things of that nature but they see to be in a total reaction mode.

I am not sure what the answer is but A lot of races still follow the ROAR rules even if they are not offical ROAR santioned races. I guess you have to have a common set of rules stated by someone. NORRCA has not been able to fill the void? Does NORRCA even exist anymore. Not sure what we would do with out ROAR even though we seem to not like they way the do things?

I have been asking track owners out of curiosity if they have

Roar insurance. So, I guess the question is, does anyone have an

estimate of how many tracks there are, or at least how many tracks

have Roar insurance? That's what I was getting at, a more or less

common set of rules. But all of the races I mentioned "tweak" the

rules slightly. Such as JBRL did NOT allow brushless last year. This

year they did. Some tracks allow Lipo, Roar just banned them. The

races I mentioned are HUGH, and the prestige is attached to these

titles, such as Snowbird or Cactus Champion.

What I was really after is why or why not do you belong to Roar??

And, would you pay for your travel to a Roar nats, or one of the non-

sanctioned races I mentioned, or another of your favorites, if you could

only attend 1 of them?? NORRCA does not exist any more.

I am a ROAR member because I had to by a membership to run the Nitro Challenge.

Local tracks that require roar memberships? The Dirt (Hemet race part) and Bending Corners require Roar Membership. Not sure of any other local tracks in So Cal that require it.

I have yet to go out of my way to run a race because it was ROAR sanctioned. I have wanted to do the ROAR stock nats due to the prestige of the event but I am very fortunate to live in So Cal were I only need to drive a couple hours to attend 6-10 major events every year. Non of these events are roar sanctioned. The Nitro Challenge has been the only one I can remember that requires ROAR memebership.

I haven't read the rule book, so I don't know the answer to this,

but I was under the impression that if you were a Roar track and

had Roar insurance, all races and racers at that track had to have

Roar membership, even if it was just club racing, everyone had to

buy a membership for the insurance to be in force????

Anyone know if that is true?????? If so, we race the JBRL series

at Hemet, and never have I heard a word about Roar

membership??

Questions, I know, I have lots of them!!

Good question. I do not know the answer to the JBRL question. Maybe Jimmy assumed liability under his policy? I am not sure how places like Camarillo deal with stuff like this?

Yes clubs that choose to use the ROAR insurance have to have all racers be ROAR members inorder to enforce the policy is my understanding.

I just read on another forum that the Roar Off-Road Nats for

2007, BOTH Stock Nats AND Mod Nats will be held at the track

in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

An article I read in Xtreme (I think) said attendance was so low (about 90 per race) they decided to try combining the event to make it bigger. We will see. NM is not too far away? The other issue with that race is the outragous entry fee and the control tire aspect. It makes it a VERY expensive race to run which is why I think it is seeing such low attendance. If the entry was a little more reasonable I think it might see better attendance. Just my opinion.

When I started asking these questions, there were 38,374 registered

users here on R/C Tech. There are now 38,385. 11 more people

registered. 258 people voted for Roar President, to represent at LEAST

the 38,385 people here, not everyone has a computer, or care to register.

285, a total lack of caring.

I think I have this right, if not, Scott will correct me. Jason and Scott

attended the 1997 Roar Mod Nats in Texas, he thinks there were over 40

heats. 2007, we now have to combine the Mod and Stock Nats

hoping to increase attendance. As a National organization, tracks

should be in a bidding war for the Nationals!! As a business, I should

WANT to join Roar as a way to show-case my business, send my Team

members to races, and support Roar with product give-aways, etc. As

racers, we

should be signing up and be proud to show our Roar membership cards,

and ready to give all the answers to new people of the benefits of joining

Roar.

I just think it's incredibly sad that 258 voted, and all these people on R/C

Tech don't see a need to join, including me!! I've read all the threads

on what to do, yada, yada, yada, year after year.

Sorry if I've upset some of my Roar friends, but being the U.S., home of

some of the best R/C businesses and best racers in the world, we should

have the best organization in the world!!

I'll be quiet now and return to filling out our race schedule for next year!!

One MAJOR problem with the Nats for next year is that they scheduled it for the last week of most schools in California and other states.

You're right, goes through the finals week!

Wonder how many teachers will allow you to take finals early?

I can't remember if we posted this before or not. So,

while we're marking calendars, the Cactus Classic

is March 16-18, 2007.

Judi- Electric racing may be making its return to Southern California. I'll keep you posted, but if it is figured out we might be having too much fun just club racing to give two poops about Roar.
