Default WTB : 1/8 esc + motor. Need to fit savage flux (advice req)

Looking for used set. Or new set, doesn't matter. But more importantly, need to be able to fit into the savage flux for sure.

Can anyone advise which motor can fit? Assuming I buy new, which I don't mind, I need to be sure it fits.

I have a Tekin RX8 ESC which is considered new. Never run before. Just soldered with original deans & Castle Creations 5.5mm bullet connectors. U can do a search in this Sale thread for it.

I just bought only the roller and without knowing there were such restrictions on the motor mount.

go buy new off tower hobbies. with the 25% coupon discount code for international customers, u will be paying less than $300 sing for the mamba monster with 2650 motor or slightly over $330 sing for the mamba monster with 2200. note the 2650 motor is for 4s lipo. motor is sensorless but still very smooth

But I think the fins on those Castle motors gets into the way of the motor mount.

those fins r not very much. think they can be grinded off easily and shouldn't be any problem at all. i fit 1 inside my e-revo with no problem. not sure if the savage flux also has a secondary motor mount with fan screws that fits around the motor like the vorza.

in any case, its your truck---u can consider buying the original flux 2200kv motor off tower with the discount code+ castle mamba. its less than the flux 2200 system.

or, if u bought the truck as a roller u can offer to buy a new castle mamba 2200 system and try to swap for the previous owner's used flux tork if he still has it. think all savage flux comes as rtr

Hi all,

Thanks for the great help and suggestions. SuperEk4, sorry I missed all your smses cos I left the phone in the car just now. Anyway, I've already succumbed to getting the Flux Tork 2200 motor. No choice... Nothing else I have researched on seems to fit. Even the hw 4168. Unbelievable. Only ONE motor to fit this (without filing or modding)???

I don't think a neu castle is smaller than a medusa. But anyway if u get a tork it won't fit in other cars as the square heat sink makes it difficult to fit.

Castle neu 1515 2200kv
39.98mm
41.78mm with fins

Hpi tork 2200kv motor
Motor Diameter: 39.98mm
41.78mm with fins
Motor Length: 75.18mm

Medusa motors specs

All of them are 36dia

You must see the motor mount of the car to understand. The fins of the tork motor, which is the heatsink is only in the central portion of the motor which is 41mm. The parts where the mounts grab onto, has no fins, which is 39.98mm. This allows for mounting.

The castle neu motors are essentially the same motor. But with a different can/heatsink fin layout the fins cover the entire length of the motor, essentially making the entire 39.98mm can a 41mm can. The motor mount has no where to grab on.

The medusa as well as several other 1/8 cans are 36mm. The only way is to apply aluminum tape or some kind of plating but it puts the structural integrity of the mounting in question. Simplest way out? Spend money. :P
