Default r/c racers = hokkien speaking

i had been playing rc from primary 6 up till now sec4
thou stop for two years... and i had found out that
no matter where you are..... as long as there is r/c racers..... there ought to be hokkien..... and everyone speaks in hokkien..(mostly)
and the worst thing is i dunno how to speak
so sumtimes hard to blend into the group.....

how many young racers fills the same way as me?(i guess hardly any)

All not groups are hokkien speaking......

Infact if you notice......That is a particular group, playing a certain class don't speak hokkien much......instead english.

BigButStupid: Not say I want to say ah....
Dude, once u enter NS, u better know some Hokkien if you want to survive.
Then again, most Singaporeans can speak some English, no matter how "Beng" they are. I find it hard to believe its a barrier btw u and the other racers.

.... Then again, I must confess I do tend to use too much Hokkien sometimes... proud to be Hokkien cos its part of my herritage

Mandarin was popularized in China only because it was the local dialect of Beijing.

language is never a barrier in r/c.
most r/c racers will welcome you to chat with them. you can always approach and chat to them in english or mandarin if that's what you're comfortable in. if they exclude you just becos you can't speak their language, then they're not worth befriending anyway. don't worry, 99% of spore rc racers are nice friendly people.

I think hor . ...if you play gas car, you normally speak hokkien ...play electric normally speaks english!!!!

Dun believe .... ask the gas guys what they say when they need juice to run their car ......it should be "pa yu" right?

What will the electric guys say when they need use juice, they say "charge battery"

Its true ...its true!

Dun get me wrong..there is nothing wrong with which ever language was chosen ...as long they dun sound like the "CCB" or the english flavoured "FCB", they are perfectly fine. Very often I see bystanders and admirers (Adults and children) watching us play ..only to be offended and pissed when someone among us started shouting CCB all over the place ...

I think R/C breaks down barriers between different races, classes, whatever. You can see it here in the forum - people from all over the world chatting about something they really love - r/c cars!

As far as my experience, I don't speak Hokkien, Mandarin, or even Singlish and I have not met a fellow r/c player in Singapore who treated me badly because of it. I think there's some really cool people I would have never met if not for r/c.

As for using bad language, put a bunch of males together in a hobby where you tend to break a lot of things and there will always be bad language involved! Maybe if there were more female players, we would watch our language more closely!

BBS, I don't know about age. I think a lot of the guys I know are younger than me, some just out of NS. Maybe not as young as you, but if we all have r/c in common, we can talk about anything, right? Have you tried racing? You can meet a lot of people at races and pick up good tips on setting up your car. Or maybe you can get together with HuFFy and Lonestar and play together if you're looking for players around your age.
