we still live, had a lucky run a while back at first DAAN race session revo came in a top second behind the bigger engine.

Cool run. Well Revo is big block ready, not like my Maxx, but it still outruns my brother's savage and my friend's Kyosho Nitro USA 1.
Hop it up with a .21, and see the revo fly. . .

Hi All... I am a newbie, considering getting a Maxx truck.
I have no intention of bashing/racing.. but prefer a hardy truck since I will be playing in very uneven ground, and perhaps even rocky...

There are quite a few versions of Maxx trucks, what are the key differences between them? (S-Maxx, T-Maxx, Stadium Maxx...?)
Which will be a better truck for me? I am hesitating getting a TMaxx because of the cost...

No matter what is your intention to get a RC truck. Firstly, please find out more on the spares and hope up parts availability and conveniency they stock up.

TMaxx will be a good truck to start off. Considering the spare parts, rotor carries the full line. From aluminium hop-ups to extra spur gears, rotor stock them all.
Rock climbing will not be problem because there's so much room to crawl. Bashing also can, with hop up of course. . . Toughen up the chassis.
Sport-Maxx is a sport version of the TMaxx with lightened chassis and 2wheel drive.
Stadium Maxx is the stadium truck version of the TMaxx with lower CG and higher conering ability. 2WD
Though the drawback is limit of small block engine, but my TMaxx equipped with RB .12 Turbo, it has no problem outrunning my brother's .25 Savage. . . ! :D
The TRX2.5 is one of the most powerful small block engine out there for trucks. I trashed mine one year back.
Starting on a TMaxx will be high, but rotor is selling at 880 complete with radio engine and all. Considering all the hop-ups you can get, the truck can be impressive to play and upgrade.
Bottom line, it's small, it's cute and the hop-ups is unparalleded. Only that Singapore there's not much Maxx owners. I met a few, and the trucks are impressive. Better than mine. No Joke.

S-Maxx (Stadium) and SportMaxx are 2WD versions of the T-Maxx. They don't have reverse gear. S-Maxx differs from the SportMaxx in that S-Maxx is geared for race, with lower stance and different tyres and body. Don't exactly see the need for 2 kind of the same model.

In USA there's a Stadium Truck category, so I believe the 2WD version of the T-Maxx is made for that. Here, there's no such class, so IMO, a 4WD T-Maxx will be better for your bashing. You'll get reverse too, a nice option to have when your truck is stuck far away from you.

For $880, you'll get a RTR. Just get batts and fuel and you're ready to go! :nod: The AM 3-Ch radio is pretty decent.

Compare this with my Kyosho Mad Armour kit. Bought at $780. Radio set at $200 and a high torque servo at $100 and you'll see it's more ex than the T-Maxx.

However, why not consider the Revo, for $100 more? IMO, a better truck with fresh design. FYI, it's steered by 2 high-torque servoes. Has bigger wheels compared to T-Maxx.

Thanks.. I just find $880 is kinda steep... especially when I can buy from towers at about $680. I am hesitating from getting from towers because I fear the package getting lost in the snail mail.

Revo @ towers is $814.. it is way above my budget of $500... :(

Any idea if the in-stall price at rotor has a 5% off their web price... I know some of their items are listed that way..

Does Tai Sing carries T-Maxx? Is Savage SS cheaper? Can I use a receiver designed for airplane in the truck?

Of course you can! You can even use the airplane Tx also. . . Provided you assign the channel correctly that is.
I order some of my stuff from tower hobbies and hobbypeople.net as well, so i rather trust them. Hobbypeople has an added feature to allow you to check your goods location on DHL or FedEx. Rotor still has the 5% discount for members.
REVO's a cool truck too, i forgot. And one goody is that it is big block ready, so a .25 is no problemo... :D
Currently Tai Sing is the distributor for HPI and Rotor is for Traxxas, so not sure if they have the TMaxx there. I saw the Nitro 4-tec, from traxxas, there though.
Savage SS is abt 800 bucks kit alone. RTR version is abt 900++ at winnie. My bro bought his truck there. Savage is big, bad and is too fat(heavy). . .

Well, you can't really compare local stuffs with purchase from Towers.

$500 is a tad difficult to get a new RTR MT, unless you settle for a 2nd hand.

Of course you can use stick type Tx for cars. It depends on what you are comfortable with. However, better not use air Rx for surface applications.
