Default Noob Classics 2011 - Announcement Thread

Sunday, 18 December 2011 | 2:30-6:00pm

Hey guys, we started the NOOB Series to grow the off-road RC offroad community by providing an efficient, light-hearted, family-friendly race environment for racers, bashers and newcomers to have fun.

And now for the second year running, we are proud to bring you the NOOB CLASSICS event for *CHARITY*!
organized to celebrate the innovative and quirky spirit of RC in the 1980s and early 90s
by providing an event for anyone to run, showcase and share their passion for vintage-themed offroad vehicles!

  • a chance to re-live the early days of RC with the awesome vehicles of that era
  • an opportunity to start that awesome project to build a vintage-themed buggy full of wierd and innovative ideas
  • a time to unwind from serious racing and return to a simpler time in RC
  • an event to meet, laugh and have a fun run with your friends

What NOOB CLASSICS is not...
  • a competitive race where the objective is a podium finish or to win a trophy.

We're announcing this early so everyone has more than enough time to get those vintages ready, restored, setup and ready to rock!

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the CCF (Children's Cancer Foundation), so register and bring some relief to those in need this Christmas through while at the same time celebrating RC in the wonderful 80s!

Event Date : Sunday, 18 December 2011
Location : Racecraft Infinity Offroad Track @81 Lorong Chencharu
Frequency : One Time Event
Timing : Sunday Afternoon, 2:00 - 6:00pm

Event Fees are as follows:
  • Event participants - $25 (regardless of number of classes running)
  • Transponder Rental (required for those without personal transponders) - $10/event
How does this work?
  • For participants with transponders, pay $25.
  • For participants without transponders, pay $35.

While typical NOOB rules (punctuality, sportsmanship, track conduct) apply, here are the rules specific to our NOOB CLASSICS vintage run.

>> Cars
  • Cars must be designed in the year 1995 or earlier to qualify
  • Exceptions - Wild Willy II, Sand Rover (2011) and Holiday Buggy (2010) are allowed to run
  • For Vintage Truck Class, any truck-type vehicle designed/produced prior to 1995 will be allowed to run in this class - this includes Clodbusters, Bullheads, Midnight Pumpkins, Lunchboxes, Stadium Trucks like JRXT / Dyna Blaster / RC10T, etc...Wild Willys and Wild Willy IIs will also run in this class.
  • All cars must run only 540-sized black (Tamiya Sport-Tuned or Team Powers black cans) or silver can motors (these are included in many entry level kits)
  • Any battery pack not exceeding 7.4volts may be run
  • There are no limitations on any other equipment

>> Classes
  • Three classes are currently planned. A 2WD buggy class, a 4WD buggy class and a "Vintage Truck & Wild Willy" Class.
  • Minimum of 8 cars required for classes to run. In the event of insufficient cars, organizers reserve the right to merge classes.
  • Organizers reserve the right to separate cars further into different classes should there be sufficient entries to do so. Motor rule is fixed though.
  • Participants are encouraged to run different cars for each run even in the same class so we can showcase as many vintage cars as possible!

As with all NOOB events, the most important rule to follow is to enjoy yourself and have fun!

*Free* Silver Can motor offer for Participants
We don't want anyone to be left out of the race, so in the event you don't have a black or silver can motor for your vintage car and can't afford to buy an additional black can even at $10, drop me a PM and the organizers can arrange for a silver can to be donated to you *free of charge*. Again, this is only valid for participants and upon payment of event fees and while stocks last. Organizers reserve the right to accept / deny requests for these motors at their discretion.

REGISTRATION THREAD will be up shortly - see you on the 18.12.2011 when RC things old become COOL again!
