Default How to calculate drive ratio?

Guys, i'm lost about the above. How do i calculate the ratio? I mean, what kind spur and pinion will run trouble free with reedy krypton 10 turns/single on a pro 4? Or given the above specs but to run on the MR4-TC SD? Thanx all....sorry for the dumb question.

hi Ares17,

I guess u r running 3300 batteries.For 10 turn the Final Drive Ratio is 8.17 roughly.
Also depends on track size too.u will need to play ard wif the FDR 2-3 teeth up or down to get the right setting.
It a try and error thing.

Hope this help.

Cheers...

Hi, i roughly know what kind of set up i'll be looking at. I will be running with 3300 batts, and maybe the 10 turns motor. But how do I calculate drive ratio? Is there a formula for it? Thanx bro.

For SD I gear at about 7.16 for a big track with a Yokomo 10T. If you are using the stock spur you can use 23t pinion. The internal ratio for SD is 2.353. To calculate the final drive ratio is Spur divide by pinion times internal ratio.

For a start you can try 21 or 22 pinion for a start.

Hope this help.

Some newbie question here...

For a given motor, does gearing a smaller or bigger FDR number, draw more juice from the battery?

For a given motor, does gearing a smaller or bigger FDR number, burn the motor?
