Default buggy choices...

hiya EricR1,

If you're not intending to join the tamiya series race(requirements are for participants to ONLY use Tamiya products)... you'll be much happier with a DB01 (minimum) Kyosho zx5 (best parts support) HPI Cyber10 (cheapest, considering the promo) or if you're more liquid... a HB D4wce (parts are on the way) or AE B44 (parts are on teh way... hopefully) or Tamiya's own 501/511 buggies (which will be infinitely more durable.

i'd personally give the DF03 a wide berth as you'll eventually spend a minor fortune on repairs and wasted time too.

The tamiya buggies (DBs and DFs) are also less capable of handling and high speed... just not designed for it, so if you're gonna put what we put in our buggies at BK's, prepare for many many happy wrenching hours.

for 4wds at BK's most peeps put in anywhere from a sensorless brushless 5.5t to 8.5t motors (to clear the triple jumps). for people who dunt mind not clearing the triples, you can use anything up to 11.5t (just barely making a double/single on the triple jump).

I kinda doubt the DFs and DBs can take on a 5.5t without something turning to mush.

p.s. whatever you decide, get it quick and come join us in fun filled dirt action!

Two more factors to consider from my point of view as a buggy noob.

Consider 2 extra costs when getting a cheaper buggy:
Aluminium shocks- These are a must for the front at least
Slipper Clutch- For your 6.5T motor

It will require a separately sold slipper minimum. I have mine geared for a 5.5T sensorless brushless. Just have to check your rear ball diff once in a while. It's known to melt with low turn motors. Have personally melted 2 pulleys already. But it's ok for now.
