See the pic above where the spur gear is there is an extention with a spring on it? That's part of the slipper. The slipper will replace the spur gear and the shaft it rides on. The spur will now mount on the slipper instead. By tightening down the spring, you add tension to 2 aluminum discs that hold on to the spur gear via friction pads. The stronger the tension the tighter the hold. So in the event of impact to the transmission (e.g. when landing off a jump or very hard acceleration), the spur will "slip" but the aluminum disks, shaft, pulleys... transmission does not move.

thanks for explaining BC. If my intepretation of your explaination is correct, to a certain extent, with the slipper, drivetrain is less susceptible to the brunt of the off-road but at the sacrifice of power delivery. Without the slipper, power is directed to the drivetrain. However, with the slipper, it also offers a certain amount of 'tuning' with regards to the tension of the springs.......

lol... sorry the epmt guys got no focus and not committed to anything one... so the entire year got many different seasons. Anyone reading through the thousands of posts there will see...
- EP buggies / STs / truggies
- GP buggies / STs / truggies
- hauler trucks (one even made it to RC Driver!)
- tanks
- helicopters
- IFOs
- minis, micros
- boats, yatchs
- super scale and 2.2" crawlers
and not to mention valuable info about diaper rash cream, etc.
Currently EP buggies in fashion though...

Have noticed that the foreign enthu has a liking for BL motor for their buggies, any particular reason why so? ease of maintenance?

They are near zero maintenance as opposed to brushed motors that require comm cutting, cleaning, etc. to keep motor performance at it's peak. Their performance isn't lacklustre either - the lower turn motors are very speedy (think 5.5-6.5 range).
Ever since trying a BL setup I've run them in most of my buggy setups.
