No need for grid positioning, regardless of participants, we just take the overall heat results. Meaning, if we have 18 people, we just split the group equally, 9/grp. We shall then combine the results of these 2 groups. Whoever that finished 1st overall shall be crowned the winner for Heat 1 and so forth for Heat 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Eg.

Heat 1
Group 1
1. Zaki 18 laps 5:09.165

Group 2
1. Alana07 18 laps 5:09.095
2. Alfie 18 laps 5:10.000

Heat 1 Overall

2. Zaki 18 laps 5:09.165 (9pts)
3. Alfie 18 laps 5:10.000 (8pts)
4. Wilfred 18 laps 5:10.095 (7pts)
5. Alonso 17 laps 5:11.935 (6pts)
6. Luvin 17 laps 5:12.003 (5pts)

About the no restrictions, i am for that. As I believe when the TNS was created it was with the motto that anyone can race with anything. As long it is the same type of chassis.

However, for this class, we may want to control the motor limit.
Else, it may be ZERO chance for a silver can to hunt down a 23T or a brushless 10.5. The silver can guys will just be demoralised seeing these cars zooming pass them on the long straight after the hardwork overtaking them in the in-field.

Though we want to promote anything goes, but the powerhouse of the car got to put a cap to it. My humble opinion.

so what you are saying is, just run an event with 5 "heats"? is that it?

the participants are driving against their own time, so no grid is required?

well, that could work. 5 heats will take about 50 mins to complete (if everyone gets to the stand on time... we could actually run 10 heats!

would be fun!

Spot on FP. An event with 5 heats! No grid whatsoever.

As for running against their own time?? Not so much of that.

As long as cars are on the same lap, the guy in front have all the right to block off the guy behind.
Next question may be, if it is a staggered start, the guy who starts first may have an advantage.

To eliminate this, we MAY do this;

1a) Have all cars line side-by-side at the starting of the long straight. OR
1b) We may put them JUST ONE car length behind another.
2) Have a simulataneous start.
3) If 1(b) is chosen, we need to randomized (is there such a word) who should be in front for every heat.
4) If 2 or more groups, we need to mix the grouping as well in between heats.

Here's another approach which we can try....

Have a qualifying session, just like in F1, sorry as you can see I am an avid Formula 1 fan!

QUALIFYING SESSION
1) Each driver will be distributed with transponder
2) Have a 20 mins qualifying session per group
3) Driver with the fastest lap will be on pole for that group
4) In this session, drivers can be up and down the stand as many times as they like - to change tyres, batteries, body shells, cars?! etc..
5) Obviously one cannot cheat by swapping transponder
6) Race official have to constantly update drivers on the standings (unless we have a massive electronic display board like in Yatabe Arena)

RACE
1) Drivers in their respective group will start based on their qualifying position.
2) Finals will be of 5 heats based on the points system which was mentioned earlier.

I'm setting up the shocks for the Mini.

Anyone knows wat is the rating (900 etc) of the damper oil(clear) that comes with the Super mini CVA shocks?

similar to 90wt.....

the oil that came with the super mini cva shock kit works fine. just use it.

BUT if you are going to use any TRF shocks for your mini, 900 will be too heavy.

Shawn, i tried BK's team powers 36Rs, wow, they grip well, but i needed to lower the ground clearance to bare minimum (i think 2-3mm) just so the car will not traction roll.

though this sounds strange as it is, it is very true, anyone who owns a 4wd mini will attest to it.

well, let's just put it as: in the spirit of fun! please gear/motor your minis as close to tamiya's m03/m04 standard. just so these people will not feel overly left out in the race.

at the same time, m03/m04 drivers, please understand that you WILL leave the 4wd minis behind if they are forced to use sport tunes and silvercans.

and the ninja races are about fun, racing together, having a good laugh. so don't cheese out your cars, and make sure it's of similar speeds.

there we go!

having said that... there was a time (KB) where things really were anything goes... fun being the prerequisite.

Thanks for the help. My mini car does not have the 5.52 fdr so I will not be qualify to run on the evening race. I will run the TNS fun race then. You guys have fun.

So can P_P & I join?

We're both running on silver cans.

In the fun class for the Rojak race, there's a fast moving truck on the loose. I felt shitty of having been past by it, so I understand how that is like. On the other hand, with a fast car against all the slow cars, it's like beating yourself in your own room.

No offence, just wanted to see if you guys would allow us to join with DDM.

hiya folks,

In the interest of fun, and unregulated racing (for fun!) please join already!

as long as it's a mini, you may join. i'd like to say, put a sport tune on everyone's car, but i think at the end of the day, everyone appreciates diversity. and gawd knows how cloistered our hobby has been.

just be sure to prepare your car for wetness, we just may have to relive last weeks fun.
