2020 UTS - 45+ Masters TC Class

Urban RC is thrilled with the positive feedback and keen interest in the 45+ Masters TC Class, a new addition to our series for the 2020 season.

FUN IS THE MAIN MOTIVATION FOR THE CLASS
The basic premise for the class is FUN ! The 45+ is intended to be a fun class for those who are "slightly past their prime" :-) but who still love racing among their buddies. We believe that races are most fun when the on-track action is close and fair, where winning is secondary, and where the main focus is on having a good day at the track with your buddies and fellow hobbyists.

RULES TO KEEP RACING CLOSE AND FAIR
The class rules have been designed to ensure fair racing and less about having the best or fastest equipment. Hence, the introduction of a spec motor (Team Powers Cup Racer 13.5T Fixed Timing Motor) and a minimum FDR (5.0). For the driver criteria, apart from being at least 45 years old in 2020, racers must not have qualified for the A-Main of UTS/TAC/Arrowmax Cup/Zombie Cup/AOC/TITC in 2019.

SPECIAL EXEMPTION DRIVERS
Following feedback and requests from drivers who do not fully meet the above driver criteria but who would like to race in the class, Urban RC has considered the matter and we are pleased to inform that special exemptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis. However, drivers granted special exemption may only run the 45+ class as a second class ie they must also be entered in either the 17.5T Blinky TC Class or Formula Class.

HANDICAPPING
Urban RC will also apply a handicapping system to ensure that racing in the class remains close, which in turn ensures fun for all.

For 2020 UTS Round 1, Special Exemption Drivers and the Winner of the 45+ Class in the UTS 2019/20 Finale Event on 5 Jan will be required to run with a min FDR of 5.5 (instead of 5.0 for all other drivers).

From 2020 UTS Round 2 onwards, the FDR handicap will apply to first-time Special Exemption drivers AND the A-Main podium finishers (ie 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed finishers) in the previous round.

Thanks for your support of UTS.

UTS Introduces A-Main Club !

Over the last 4 seasons of the Urban Touring Series, we have seen the standard of racing improve by leaps and bounds among local racers. This is a reflection of the effort that so many of you have put in to up your racing game. With the rise in the number of entries for each event, getting a spot in the A-Main of any round of the UTS is no longer a "sure" thing. Slowly and surely, our local racing scene is returning to the days of old where events had A-Mains to E-Mains, or even F, G, or H-mains. Making an A-Main in an event in those days was indeed an achievement to be celebrated. In the USA, you "Make the Show" when you get to race in the A-Main of an event. Urban RC would like to encourage all racers to attempt to "Make the Show" at any event we host.

For the 2020 UTS Season, we will be introducing the following:

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...a46da1eb37.jpg
1) UrbanRC A-Main Club - Urban RC is pleased to introduce the "UrbanRC A-Main Club" initiative to encourage all racers to reach for the stars in our racing events. For a start, we will be displaying in our pit area the photos of racers who have made the A-Mains in the premier UTS 17.5T Blinky TC Class from 2017 season onwards. This will also be extended to our Astro Buggy Championship Series events for the 2WD Open Buggy Class. We are also working on some additional areas of recognition for A-Main-ers, so do stay tuned as we roll them out in the course of the racing year.

2) UTS Medal Tally - Everyone will be familiar with how the Olympic, Asian or SE Asian Games rank countries using a Medal tally based on the number of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals won. For the 2020 UTS season, Urban RC will be introducing a similar ranking table based on each racer's appearance in an A-Main, B-Main or C-Main of UTS Classes. This tally rewards racers based on which Main they qualify into and not the final position in the Main. At the end of the season, we will be converting your standings into additional chances for the end of season lucky draw to win some attractive prizes.

3) UTS Championship Points - There will now be a doubling of the point difference between the last placed A-Main finisher and the B-Main 1st position (A8 = 92pts, B1 = 90pts). The 2-point gap will also be in place for the other finals (ie B8 = 83pts, C1 = 81pts and so on ...). We believe this change strikes a balance between rewarding those who are in a higher main, and also keeping the championship challenge close to encourage all to race on for overall season honours even if they have 1 or 2 events where they might have not done as well as hoped.

4) Trophies and Race Fee Discounts - As in previous seasons, all A-Main finalists will continue to receive a trophy, while only podium finishers in lower mains will be awarded one. We have also been awarding race fee discount vouchers in past seasons to all A-Main finalists and will continue to do so, but now with increased discount of 50% to 20% off race fees for the next race. B-Main podium finishers will also receive race fee discount vouchers.

Even as we introduce the above initiatives, we would like to remind all that everyone started as novices. Yes, even those who are now regular A-Main racers. Everyone can Make the Show. Yes, You Can !

Speak to us about your personal racing goals and we would be happy to assist in whatever way possible.
