Default How to protect CF Bottom decks

Hi Guys,

I was just wondering if anyone had any brilliant ideas they would like to share about ptoective layers on ur bottom deck. I've seen people use "contact" like substance or people gluing thin lexan on aswell and just wanted a few more ideas other than setting ride height to 10mm

I use self adhesive velcro strips. You can buy velcro from most hardware stores and then cut a small piece and place on the sections of your chassis that are getting worn. The velcro needs to be replaced every two to three race meets.

One neat way to preserve your chassis is by not using it!

The other is to purchase some Sticky Teflon Tape, looks like contact but much thicker.

Made by ( and available locally! ) Associated & Tamiya. So should be easy enough to procure. Cost is less than $20.

Also a thin bead of C/A along the edges will help to preserve your chassis from the side impacts a little.

Cheers.

Go to a Motobike shop and ask for the 3M protection sheet they put on Motocross bikes. Cost about $13 and you will get two chassis out of it. Very very strong stuff and it's clear.

Much cheaper and much much better than the other option.

there is a adhesive backed aluminum sheets out there somewhere, my dad had some sheets years ago, they are about 0.5mm thick and sounds ideal to protect the chassis,

I will try to find some,

Sounds OK, if not too expensive.
Although it could be worth keeping in mind that metal parts on your car can sometimes generate radio trouble. Worth the experiment I suppose??

That 3M stuff sounds cool... thanx coxy...

I wouldn't recommend stick on alloy... Bottoming out will slow your car considerably!
