Cool, thanks for that Geoff. I've been unable to get a straight answer about whether it works in a 3vcs from Horizon. Seems your spektrum is behaving as "normal" so far, hope the cap works out for you. Could you let me know how it goes with the cap fix?

Cheers

Hey guys,
The capacitator should do the trick. I have been driving around with a Futaba set myself for months now using it and no problems thus far.
Even in major events I have never once had a glitch.
Ciao

Just got my Spektrum yesterday...It was on of the newer ones for the M8/M11 and it had the wire routed wrong on the Transmitter Module. I left it as is for the first heat and the car shut down twice after being hit . Aggravated, I opened the module again and re routed the wire myself. Worked great after that!!! Instead of leaving things alone that were working properly I figured I would try the M8 mod to integrate the module and antenna into the transmitter. Everything was going great until I went to remove the Spektrum antenna and the wire came out of the small gold connector that goes to the circuit board. I put the wire back in, re crimped it, and put a drop of solder on it to hold it. Put the module back together in the with the antenna on the back and walked out of my toy room to test it. I got about 30 feet away and it stopped responding. Did I screw things up by not leaving well enough alone and "fixing" the antenna wire or is it possible my 2.4ghz wireless network was fouling up the works as I was in a basement? Help!?!?

Once the antenna wire broke you were hosed. The wire is not a simple one conductor wire. It is actually a tiny coaxial wire and connector. So crimping and soldering it like you did would not do it and you would be lucky to get 20-30 ft of range. Actually with it likely being shorted I would be suprised if it worked at all.

Put it in and follow the binding directions for the spektrum. You dont have to change any radio settings.

Default Plug for antenna hole?

I remember reading in an RC magazine recently that someone makes an aluminum (I think) screw-in plug for the antenna hole on an m11. I'm planning to install Spektrum in my m11, and was trying to remember who makes these little plugs. Anyone know?

Alternatively, do you guys recommend the installation procedure I've seen where people put the Spektrum antenna in the position of the original antenna. I'm somewhat hesitant to do this, as it probably negatively effects the value of the radio. I'd prefer to have my radio in perfect condition, given the frequency with which I seem to change equipment. I like for my stuff to remain attractive to ebay buyers.

Is there also a procedure for re-routing the Spektrum antenna through a KO Helios?

Thanks.

If I was you, I'd reserve that antenna hole for what Specktrum is relaseing next; the Specktrum Telemetry System. That is what I am doing..........

Default re Telemetry

No way am I putting a big, goofy-looking pager thing on top of my m11. I guess Airtronics has just not caught up to Nomadio, huh? I would probably have gone with it instead of the Airtronics, but I have a Mac, and the Sensor software is only on PC. Seems like Airtronics is the better solution, but I've sort of given up on the telemetry idea. Hopefully, Airtronics is working on a DSM radio with telemetry built in like the Nomadio. That's what I'm waiting for!

Do you think they will sell me an antenna with the wire and connector attached so I can put the thing back together and leave it alone?!?

Let me know if they let you buy just the antenna w/ wire and connector. I did the same thing but crimped it back together and haven't had a problem but would hate to get to a race and have it mess up. LMK if what you find out. Thanks.

I think it is worth a shot. If you had sent back the TX module before it was damaged it would have been updated with the new antenna probably. So it might be worth a shot.

I got the Telemetry system today and put it on my MTX-4. The unit is tiny, and the sensors can't be used with the mounting hardware for the MTX-4, but after 4 hours of trying different things, Its up and running. I had to use a dremel, shoe goo, some drilling, soldering and a lot of thinking, but its on and works good! Got a reading of 43,500rpm and 53mph. This thing is cool, and it sits atop my R1

The antenna wire is the same one as is built in my Dell laptop for the wireless network card. If you have old laptop that has builtin wireless network antenna you can (most likely) use the antenna wire from it, and fix your antenna yourself. Of course you wouldn't have much use for the laptop afterwards . Some computer or electronic workshop might be able to source you a wire if you ask for wireless network antenna wire.

This is just an idea and I haven't test it. It's a power booster.

If you think your ESC doesn't supply enough current to operate RX and Digital Servo, and thus you are experiencing glitching problem, lame servo movement, etc. Maybe this idea could help you to overcome the problems.

Buy LM7806 or LM7805 voltage regulator ( 7806 = 6 V output, 7805 = 5 V ).

Buy two 220uF capacitors ( or any ceramic capacitors.... doesn't matter ).

Buy extra servo cable ( Blue, Red, White ) to plug it into RX batt.

Buy heat shrink tubes 2mm & 15mm in diameter, solder, flux, and 60/40 lead.

And study this diagram.
