Thumbs up Ceramic Bearings

I've heard these bearings are like night and day compared to standard bearings. I'm thinking about buying them, but they can range from $109 to $250 depnding on the grade and manufacturer. Any testimonials?

I personally prefer the acer red sealed units. I've had a set over a year in my tc3 and they still are super smooth! I've also had a set of Boca's and wasn't pleased at all. More expensive and poor quality. Not trying to put them down in any way. Maybe I just had a bad set.

Does it really makes huge HUGE difference? I have Acer Super Polyamide Sealed Bearings and I can't notice difference than regular bearing.

It's a noticeable but not "huge" difference. If you're going to do it, buy the Acer ones though, not any of the other el cheapo brands.

Difference is not huge.. I've got some regular teflon units that spin much longer but they are not as smooth as the Acer's if that makes any sense. Plus after months of running they are still like the day I bought them.

Default Where to buy?

I've been looking to buy a new set of bearings for my TC3 but can't find a place to buy them. My local hobby shop only carries AE kits... Any online site you would recommend?

Thanks,
Dave

You can also order through tower hobbies. Hardcore is a distributor for Acer.

You might want to checkout the bearings at RC4Less.com as well. Grade 7 bearings with sets going for 110.00. Acers that I got were only grade 5.

Phat Phat,

I've purchased Acer Super Polymide to see if I can notice a difference and yes you can, BUT if your not smooth around the track bearings aren't the way to go. Instead buy a few more practice sessions. Don't get caught in the Hop-up of the week syndrome.

My bearing company is just starting to get into the electric side of bearings but I have done a lot of testing on the 3/16 x 3/8's bearings that most of the electrics use in their hubs, wheels, and trannies. My goal is to sell the highest quality of bearing needed for RC but have a price that isn't RC specific. Since bearings are not made just for RC, the price of bearings is much cheaper outside of this industry (RC manufacturers mark up prices a lot on non-rc specific items). I give a 30 day money back guarentee as long as you return all of the product so there is no need to worry. They are black rubber shielded, 20 bearings for $24.99. We also carry 1/8th scale bearings and those are 20 bearings for $19.99. So come check us out at http://www.avidrc.com ,and yes I am a paid advertiser on this site.

Please remember though, I am a small company just starting out so I only carry the most popular bearing sizes. If there is something you ever want to see me carry, than feel free to drop a note in the suggestion submission section on the front page of the website.
