dump the old stuff out (I set mine on a paper plate while I'm doing something else) leave the cross gears in and fill with WD40 and work the diff...... dump again and ready for oil swap. WD wont damage the orings
Takes all of 5 mins..... WD40 is a heavy solvent based lubricant, thats why it cleans everything..... including tar off a fender

WD-40 Swells O rings....I would NOT reccomend using Wd to clean out the cups.....Naptha or Iosol or some form of 99% alcohol will do the trick....and the diff dunker the the Cats A** and supposedly u can buy them at a local dish place there basically a tea dunker thing.

I use tissue to wipe off inside the gear diff & gear box.
No need to be ultra clean. ..... it's going to get dirty again.
Frequent oil diff changing is the most important. ( usually 2 races )

It doesn't have to be that clean. Just dump everything out and wipe with a OLD rag. then spray in WD and wipe out. Done.

That's right, no need to be perfectly clean.
as I said, it's going to get dirty again.
in return of your laziness ( to clean ), you do good things to earth.
1. Less chemical sprayed into the air
2. Less towel tissue means you save trees
3. You save money & time too.

geta tub with a lid (tupaware works great) go to local paint store or lowes etc etc etc buy naptha dump in tub get a diff dunker (true u can save a few bucks and buy a tea dunker but why not support the hobby?) put all of the gears and cross pins in the dunker swish it around in the naptha for like 10 seconds then dump parts on a towel to dry for a min or so clean out the diff cup and what not apply new diff fluid.
true it dont HAVE to be 100% clean but why not take the extra 3 mins and do it right so that there are no forigen(sp) objects in the fluid to ruin your gears....
