Hmmm .. "pro level talent" and "stock" don't seem like they belong in the same sentence but that may be just me.

Curious about others opinions?

Yup, people getting paid to race do just that RACE, constantly at every big event around the country/world. People such as Haynes/Dodge/Fairtrace have regular jobs and dont run that often. That is the main cost to racing, not some tires and batteries, you spend way more on batteries/motors in stock than mod. Its all about practice!

I'm just glad to see that a young, up and coming new talent like Dave Johnson was able to have such a strong showing in USVTA......

Can we please stop disrespecting the level of competition in the stock classes in this country?

Fear technology? If it's 17.5, it's stock. Even 2s 17.5 blinky would suck. JMHO.

Stock does not=novice.
